Naruto didn't grow his Kyuubi power himself. Doesn't matter when it was given. It might seem natural ability that way, but ultimately it is not. You can't tell me he wasn't given it regardless if he was an infant or not. But of course, I digress..

Intellectually wise, yes. Naruto has a thousand year old chakra demon to help him if he can't figure out something and plan strategy. In this area, Naruto has a huge advantage over Sasuke. Remember, power isn't everything. Two minds is better then one. Kurama's knowledge + Naruto's creativity can be very dangerous for Sasuke.

Power wise, it's tricky. Naruto HAS earned the right to use Kurama's power, there's no debating that but does that make it 'his' power? No. He's taking Chakra from an entity sealed within himself. This entity has a name, a background, a mind. Kurama is living so in that respect it is "2v1"
