We probably should not put KCM Naruto and Gai on the same level when it comes to Taijutus. Plus, it looked as if they were just talking, and not going serious at all.

I'll try to find scans of Gai vs Itachi to make a conclusion cause I don't think he needs to.

They didnt have a choice as to go serious or not.Kabuto was controlling all their movements

Actually Gai at that time couldn't go to eight...when he beat kisame with 6 gates he could barely stand the pain when he went seventh gates against madara after exiting he showed exhaustion but he wasn't EXTREMELY exhausted. 6 was Gai's limit for part one and for most of part two until after the kiss me battle when it sent to seven and then eventually eight. Not to be mistaken with lee, who's limit was five for part one and eventually six and he pretty much plauteau'd there

I know what you are talking about but in 8 gate he would be stronger than any his opponent (in Part 1 while in part 2 exceptions are characters with Hagoromo power/chakra and JJ) and he would die because of side effects of 8 gate not because someone would beat him.

day time tiger blows up itachi along with his susano. itachi would probably go blind in 30 seconds using susano you remember how he complained after just using amaterasu, when sasuke was spamming it crazy.

if gai uses night guy on itachi, itachi would disintegrate even before impact.
