I wanna discuss the "talent" of the Sanin.

Orochimaru and Tsunade

The whole thread is basically about these 2 (yes Jiraiya is not included).

Orochimaru: He was called a genius by Hiruzen, for having the ability to learn jutsus in a faster rate and so on. Is that talent? yes it is.

Tsunade: Hashirama called a very young Tsunade a monster. Is that talent? yes it is.

Now the difference is being born raw, and having the ability to become raw. Tsunade was apparently already a "monster" at a young age. While Orochimaru with his talent became a raw ninja later on. This is what separates the Sanin from the Team 7 kids.

Conclusion:

So I'm inclined to believe the "talented" one is Tsunade. If she had chosen to become a ninja like her Grandfather or Orochimaru/Jiraiya type.... she would've left them behind. But instead she focused on medical ninjutsu, and still ended up getting more respect and fame in the world then her teammates.

What are your thoughts?

Of course you do, you're a Senju fanboy.

OT: It's close, but IMO Orochimaru is more of a genius.

Jiriaya > Oro > Tsunade. U_U

And I wanna say Hashi was calling her a monster in a playful type of way. Like, "Oh, your kid's such a monster. Hahaha." That's just my opinion though.

In certain areas Tsunade is more talented then Orochimaru.
She can be easily considered as a medical genius.

What are your thoughts?

I agree. But I think the reason Tsunade isn't as strong as the other 2 is because she's a female.
Kishi doesn't make females as strong as males.

What? Orochimaru was always the talented genius of the group

And the one Hiruzen thought suitable to become legacy..

He said almost nothing about Tsunade.. her being considered a young monster could be more related to her strength and destructive nature rather than any other talent

mon·ster

An imaginary creature that is typically large, ugly, and frightening

An inhumanly cruel or wicked person
- he was an unfeeling, treacherous monster

A person, typically a child, who is rude or badly behaved
- Christopher is only a year old, but already he is a little monster

Are we forgetting what a monster means? Specifically its third meaning

If Tsunade focused her efforts to pure combat of course she would be better if you ask me, she comes from good heritage so i don't see why not.

She is awesome the way she is anyways, people don't speak highly of medical ninjutsu 90% of the time and it's sad because their favorite characters depend on them. Medical skill alone put Tsunade where she is now. A ninja who can be well rounded purely off medical ninjutsu is pretty cool in my books.

I believe Oro is the more talented one in the group. Though in terms of strength, Jiraiya is following beside Tsunade due to sage mode. In terms of destructive power that is.

Tsunade is probably the most talented naturally. Or Orochimaru. Jiraiya was the one who had to work hardest probably.
But yeah, I actually find Tsunade the most impressive out of the three although I love them all.

She took on the caretaker with the iron fist title. That is why she was picked to be Hokage and not Orochimaru.

I highly doubt that's what Hashirama was referring to considering context.

Also she was obviously more skilled than Jiraiya.

Jiraiya statements lend to her prowess

As does Kabuto's.
