Excellent theory. But I have to disagree. Madara showed no Ill signs while using it.

Sasuke only started coughing up blood not just from susano'o, but from overuse of the MS against, Ay, Mei, Gaara, Danzo and Kakashi.

Madara had EMS, that's why

And there is no proof that General overuse of ms makes you cough up blood. Sasuke didn't start to until after susanoo overuse

While this is possible, Itachi never used Susano'o, making this very illogical. At most, he's only used it once or twice since he had known he could use it.

Don't forget Itachi was also hunting down Bijuu as an Akatsuki. So we can assume he has used it more than once even though we have not seen him use outside his fight with Sasuke while living.

This is just speculation and assumption on Itachi's cause of illness though.

Well there is the fact that Madara was begining to go blind from overuse of his MS before he received his brother's eyes. But it stands to mere speculation as to weather or not he began coughing up blood. And after he obtained EMS those symptoms stopped.

The disease is derived from the eyes, so transplanting a different pair gets rid of it

I don't think Ems is a simple matter of transfering Eyes.

I Think it's more of Fusing both pairs of eyes together with some forbidden sealing jutsu of some sorts. Removing the original eyes wouldn't really make sense, Since without his original eye's sasuke wouldn't have enton since it is unique to his set of Eyes only.

Unless both set of Eyes are removed, Then fused, Then replaced back into their sockets
