[Discussion] Subbed or Dubbed?

Subbed. I love the way the language sounds. Dubbed voices can be so annoying.

Depends. Mostly I like whatever language it was intended to be in, but I love Yugioh and Pokemon's dub.

I prefer dubbed unless the voice acting is really horrible. I watch subbed though for the episodes that aren't in English dubbed yet.

i'm probably a 1% but i prefer dubs. it sticks to your memory better when you hear it in a language you udnerstand. for instance all of itachi's sayings when i heard them in japanese they didn't stick, yes the subs sticked to memory but it's not the same. the emotional bonding is stronger when it's in a language you understand. plus i really don't like the japanese language, it's personal preference but it counts i guess.

Anyone who think DBZ was a good japanese dub.. is a freaking lie.

I've never watched DBZ but I must say the subbed sounds horrible.

OT: Subbed for sure. I would watch dubbed if any of them were good. But the main problem is that they have to match the mouths with the characters. And Japanese flows differently than english so you end up with wierd pauses in the middle of sentences and just weird, out of flow english. Also it isnt too big of a deal but the censoring of curse words is really annoying. Like instead of "damnit" they will say "son of a gun" or something really lame like that and is just like "really?"

Naruto - terrible (the akatsuki all sound the same)
One Piece - probably the worst I've ever heard.
FMA:B - ok, but Greed and Wrath have the best subbed voices so the dubs dont even compare
Bleach - OK
Death note - OK but L's subbed voice is way better.

For me dubbed just takes so much personality out of the show. Especially when they slaughter words like "mangekyo sharingan." You can tell how much trouble they have trying to pronounce it.

Subs forever, I absolutely cannot stand dub, the only time I can say I like it, it would have to be for Dragon Ball Z, except for the shitty english openings, I prefer the originals.

The subbed voice actors are always better and they fit the characters and the emotions most of the time. When it's dubbed it's always extra cheesy voice acting.

Subbed only. Characters were created within the culture of the language of the mangaka. Enough certainly gets lost in the translation of the words; I think by adding voice in another language, the characters are changed even more. I get that it's annoying to have to stare at the screen to read the subtitles. Death Note was the first subbed anime i watched. had a hard time getting used to it, so I switched to dubbed. After one episode I went back to subbed.
My only complaint with subbed: I wish the translators would just show Japanese names as they're spoken (surname first). Viewers aren't that dumb: we can handle it.

If a dubbed is censored, it's because it aired on TV. Even then, they always make an uncut version. That's one of the bad argument:

Most "dubbed haters" give bad arguments as to why dub sucks. Ex:

1. Dub Voice doesn't have emotions.
2. Dub is censored.(The dumbest one)
3. Just doesn't feel the same

Are you serious? That is not always true. Some anime are not even set in Japan.
