How would they remake it? Just take out the Gungans?

By the way I want you to tell me how the newer Star Wars trilogy is so terrible.

What about it was so bad?

It had top notch actors, many of whom are huge A list actors.

The effects are pretty much all amazing. The lightsaber duels were beatifully choreographed and masterful.

Most of the dialogue was better, and the dynamic between Obi-wan and Anakin was way better than it was with Luke and Obi-wan.

And frankly I don't get why everyone was so critical of Hayden Christensen. he showed a wide range of emotions and played it exactly like someone who was walking the fine line between the dark side and the light side.
I'll tell you what's bad.

The animated characters look like balls.

Jar-Jar destroyd Ep.1

The only good actor in Ep1 is Neeson, all the others suck.

The jokes are just facepalm material.

The lightsabel matches are quite accepted though..

I agree that they tried too hard to make the newer sequel funny and it sort of backfired on them, and Jar Jar was annoying but everything else I disagree with.

Natalie Portman is an amazing actress, as is Ewan Mcgregor, and the guy who played Palpatine did it well also.

Plus the newer trilogy just had so much more to it, more story, more emotions (minus the Vader/Luke fights and the final Vader scene).

I also disagree with how the CGI characters looked, I thought most of them looked really awesome, you can't expect that same nitty-gritty look like in the original Star Wars because there were just so many more characters in the newer trilogy. I mean think about how many people you saw in the old trilogy, then think about how many people you saw in the new one. And of of those think of how many in the old trilogy were human, nearly all of them. Whereas the newer trilogy made it much more logical, with tons of other races.

I mean humans can't be the only species that wanted to rebel against the Empire but they were pretty much the only one's fighting other than General Ackbar and a few Ewoks.

I said duel when mentioning the two of them, meaning only a lightsaber fight. Darth Maul's lightsaber skills were insane.

He got killed because of the plot and he was surprised by the sudden attack but he had mad skills. I mean he was winning against both Qui-Gon and Obi-wan at the same time and pretty much as soon as they were separated he beat them both.
Well, arguably a Jedi's/Sith's lightsaber skills as well as other abilities are one in the same with how much mastery they have with The Force.

It's comparable to one's Power Level in DBZ in that the more control you have over the Force, the stronger you are in general. In this case, it'd be including abilities such as precognition, reflexes, intuition (which all contribute to one's prowess in swordsmanship), and the various "Force abilities" (Force Grip, Force Lightning, telekinesis, telepathy, etc).

I won't argue that Darth Maul got killed by the plot though. He had that fight won for christ sakes
(Well, technically he survived that fight in the comics :p)

True, I understand that but I was talking purely about a lightsaber duel with no Force powers involved.

And I know he survived in the comics but I hated his little spider looking legs and he was nowhere near as cool so I just kind of ignored him after that.

Yeah, then I agree that Maul would trample Vader like no tomorrow.

If it was Maul versus Anakin instead of "Vader" then maybe it'd be a better fight. The fact that Anakin's limited by his robotic body hinders him greatly :(

Lol true that true that

Yeah, and Neo would own Bruce Lee. You realize that the time between second and first triology is 16 years and what major improvements have been made in battle choreography and special effects in that time.
If excellent fights and computer effects is all that makes a good movie I would say yes, these new movies are great. But they lack in so many other areas. Even in design second triology owns the first. Everything was minimalist but awesome , from scenery to ships, suits and costumes. They all became iconic and are recognizable even today. First triology failed where second shined because modern designers forgot that sometimes less is more. They were so eager to show off new CGI effects and lost themselves in the unnecessary details. I´m not saying that everything looks like crap, but with recourses they had they could have done much, much better.
Fight between Vader and Kenobi was great for the time when it was made and even today it looks O.K. They fought like Bushido warriors using light sabers for precise slashes like a samurai would. Darth Maul style is more kung fu, fast flashy movies that look good but don´t really pack a punch.
In RL I think, Samurai would have little trouble in a fight with a Kung Fu practitioner using a weapon.
And if HK is such a great actor where is he now. He is where he deserves to be, making stupid B movies that match his talent (or lack thereof) perfectly.

Im a die hard starwars fan, and in my opinion the old movies are the best, but it should be shown in the right order 1-6 since it would only make sense.

I love all the movies but the old ones are the best

Well it's all a matter of opinion I suppose

1-6 does tell the story in chronological order, but it takes a lot of suspense out of it

4-6,1-3 does a better job in building fan anticipation because it stirs fan curiousity as to how the villainous Darth Vader came into being from such an innocent innocent child. It also shows history for many of the characters, how the Galactic Empire was created, and even the saga climax of Yoda vs Palpatine and Anakin vs Obi-Wan

It's kinda like if we saw the Kakashi Gaiden before we saw him meet Team 7. We wouldn't have as many questions about him. Questions about Kakashi's history were built up for us and then they were answered with the Gaiden

Imo, all the movies were far from perfect. Episode 1 was okay, but it lacked a real purpose, it just kinda felt a little unnecessary and Jar Jar just ruined what little it had going for it.

Episode 2 was a complete train wreck since it was all love story built into a serious plot. The only good to come from that movie was the scenes with Obi wan, apart from Anikan. You know, the ones with the fatass alien bar owner and his duel with Jango, etc.

Episode 3 was decent in that we got to see how Anikan became Vader but the way Obi-wan just left his 'friend' to suffer and die was terrible. Not to mention he should have known that Anikan might have been saved and would come back later to haunt him later. But other than that, the movie did a good job to show how badass Anikan had become and showed a good progression to the dark side.

Episode 4 was tainted by the terrible duel between Obi Wan and Vader, especially the moment where Obi Wan holds his lightsaber level with the camera and it began to look like a bright light or something. But overall, the movie was quite good for the time and introduced some very memorable characters.

Episode 5 showed a ridiculous side of Yoda, a side that should never had been shown. The real Yoda would never have lost so much respect for himself to have acted the way he did in front of Luke. Luke would have been completely oblivious anyway, so why did Lucas have Yoda act so childish? It was a travesty to the character imo. But like 4, it was a great movie for its time and had some amazing scenes like the Hoth battle and Luke vs. Vader take one.

As for 6.... I really can't complain much. Its a truly epic end to the series and has the best duel of the original trilogy. I do think Vader's moves seemed a little predictable though. Perhaps the actor was a bit bogged down by his gear? Idk but he just seemed a little slow and it looked a little too much like they were staging the strikes.

Anyway, I guess I'm being critical but overall, most of these movies had moments stifled their overall quality imo. I'd prefer to show the movies to my kids in order, but perhaps 4-6 and then 1-3 would be better for theatrical purposes and going from worse to better effects is better than from good to bad.

Anyway, if I made a rank of the episodes, I'd prlly do this, though I need to rewatch 4-6 again:

1. Return of the Jedi
2. Revenge of the Sith
3. Empire strikes Back
4. A New Hope
5. A Phantom Menace
6. Lol what was 2 called again? Oh ya Clone Wars....

I sterted it watching 1-2-3. and since the graphics of 4-5-6 sucks I first thought the 1-2-3 were better than the rest. (that wasn't the case with the stroyline of course)
I would have my kids watch it according to storyline (1-2-3-4-5-6)

I respect your decisions, but in my opinion: a Star Wars film is a Star Wars film.

The first episode was very well played out. They remastered the film into 3D and replaced the puppet Yoda with a CGI version. MUCH BETTER! I loved the heck out of this film, and I hope to show this to my children in the future. To me, I do not care what order they see them in. It would actually be pretty interesting for them to see it in a jumbled up order. That way, they can try to fit the puzzle pieces together for themselves (not to mention the fact they are titled...well....Episode 1, Episode 2, Episode 3, Episode 4, etc.).

Star Wars - The Phantom Menace 3D was a fantastic re-imagining of the film and I can't wait for Episode 2 to hit the big screen in 3D.

I just bought the bluray pack(not 3D). Of course Lucas releases a 3D version of the movies, to milk out even more money. Now to subjet. Blu ray versions is CGI Yoda. It maybe look better than the doll, BUT i prefere original.

Nevertheless, Yoda didn't destroy the movie, it was the bad actor's. When i say bad actors i mean all of them, with the exception of Liam.. Perhaps Jackson aswell...

The dialogs are just.. Balls..

I can answer alot of questions you posed in this statement:

"Episode 4 was tainted by the terrible duel between Obi Wan and Vader, especially the moment where Obi Wan holds his lightsaber level with the camera and it began to look like a bright light or something."

The duel between Vader and Obi Wan was not needed to be good or all action packed. Obi Wan let Vader kill him because he knew it was his time to go, and he could not win. Lucas never intentionally made it to be "terrible".

"Luke would have been completely oblivious anyway, so why did Lucas have Yoda act so childish?"

In Episodes 5 and 6, Yoda is at a very...very...VERY old age. It is common among older aged men to be humble and childish at points. Yoda was just being an old creature of Dagobah and teaching Luke the ways of the force.

"Episode 3 was decent in that we got to see how Anikan became Vader but the way Obi-wan just left his 'friend' to suffer and die was terrible."

Obi Wan had to abandon Anakin for his own good. He had become too corrupted by the dark side of the force, and there was no way to save him. He even said: "I cannot save you Anakin. You have brought this upon yourself."

"Episode 2 was a complete train wreck since it was all love story built into a serious plot."

Lucas wanted to establish a love connection between Padme and Skywalker simply because he is now grown up and he couldn't do it in the first Episode and they're already..y'know...married in the third Episode. Without the love connection in the second film, there would be no Luke and Leia.

"...but it lacked a real purpose, it just kinda felt a little unnecessary and Jar Jar just ruined what little it had going for it."

Jar Jar was introduced for comical effect. He wasn't really there for the story. I have to agree though: He wasn't all that great.

Nice post, but I think you missed my point on most of these, and btw, they weren't really questions lol.

1. I know the fight between Obi Wan and Vader didn't need to be action packed, I'm just saying the actor's dueling wasn't very good and the moment with the light-bright look was just terrible.

2. Yoda was very, VERY, old since episode 1! His personality should not have changed at all when aging from 950 to ~980.

3. What I meant about Obi Wan leaving Anikan was that he should have KILLED HIM, not let him lay there and die. It was a real plot hole imo, something Lucas must have thought there was no way around.

4. I know the love story was essential, I was just pointing out that it didn't make for the best star wars movie.

5. Jar Jar.... self explanatory... we all agree.

In my opinion, the best of the series were Episodes IV-VI.
They weren't bogged-down with extremely bad dialogue and useless/boring characters (JarJar, Padme, etc).
However, there were some awesome parts in the prequels:
Darth Maul
Obi-Wan v Anakin
Samuel L. Jackson

I'd probably show my kids the original trilogy before the prequels.

P.S
Han shot first. ;)
