Yes you can still detect enemies underground.

(Ototon: Sumakku Te no Jutsu) - Sound Release: Clapping Hands
Rank: B
Type: Defensive
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user charges Ototon chakra into the palms of their hands, and then smashes them together. The force creates high frequency sound waves which can be used to disperse incoming "solid" jutsu (only works on B-Rank or below jutsu) like those of Water Release or Earth Release.

After charging chakra into your palms you slap them together and the energy creates is able to disperse any B-rank and below solid jutsu (earth, water, wood, crystal etc.)

It is a nice technique. Basically it's a directional blast, that travels forward and is aimed at the technique. Since sound weakens with distance the sooner it hits the technique the better the dispersion, so one should keep that in mind. From how it's performed, one can assume it's a one direction blast, from your hands outwards. Within short range, it would be very powerful, dispersing the technique almost as it's made. Of course the further back you are from the opponent/target, the harder it becomes to disperse the technique, so to speak but since it is only usable in short range that doesn't matter at all. However, it can't be used against a person, as it's primary purpose is to disrupt techniques which of course can be counted as a disadvantage. But overall I like the technique. It's a nice one. Also, the note only "solid jutsus" means that I won't be able to counter fire, lightning and etc, so that is a disadvantage as well.

(Ototon: Oto no Ken) - Sound Release: Sonic Fist
Rank: B
Type: Attack
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: 40
Description: The user gathers chakra either around their fist, arm, or leg and then charges towards their opponent. Upon utilizing an attack involving the aforementioned limb, it causes a release of sonic vibrations (of a low frequency but with a high amplitude) that act as a secondary strike, making the opponent unable to use the body part that has been hit for 1 turn. This happens because the sound vibrations damage soft tissue by resonating within the water molecules that reside within it. The effect is similar to a localized explosion upon contact that rips through the targeted area and creates a shockwave that blasts the target backwards. The skill is exceptionally useful if used against solid techniques such as those from Earth Release (or similar) which will shatter upon being hit.

A technique where you gather chakra around your fist, arm or leg and then attack your opponent. Upon striking your opponent the chakra is released in the form of sonic vibrations like a shockwave, making the body part struck unusable for 1 turn. The vibrations created by the strike damage the soft tissue paralyzing the opponents limb struck. You can use it against solid techniques to shatter it.

(Ototon: Hibiki Rendan no Jutsu) - Sound Release: Echo Assault Skill
Rank: B
Type: Offensive
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: 40
Description: The user gathers his sound chakra into his throat as he inhales afterwards exhaling as he screams, yells or roars. The resulting effect is a massive forward shockwave of low frequency, high amplitude sound that levels anything in its path. Despite weakening as it travels, its faster than most wind or lightning techniques and can still be defended from. If used within a water source it receives +20 damage.

After gathering sound chakra in your throat while inhaling and afterwards exhaling as you scream, yell or roar. You create a massive forward shockwave that can level anything in it's path. Best used in short-mid range since it weakens as it travels. It is faster than most wind/lightning techs but can still be defended from. It gains 20+ damage if used within a water source.

Very cool technique. I would say that this technique would be best combined with taijutsu since you are able to cover sound chakra around your fist, arm, or leg. Kinda of reminds me of something what you can do with wind already. If you actually hit your opponent with it you can cause some pretty good damage, because of the sonic vibrations. A giant plus is that it can be used against solid techniques too. It is pretty straightforward though and can only be used in short range so these are the only cons. But of course it is also very useful and interesting. Overall I like it very much.

Well this one is simply awesome. Not to mention that it has A rank and S rank version of it, which we are going to learn later on I assume. The fact that it it incorporates the water as a medium for sound travel is something that I love. I immediately can think of a good combo with it, for example using the gushing water technique to trap your opponent and then to follow up with this beauty right here. That it travels faster than most wind or lightning techniques is a plus also. The technique itself is pretty self explanatory and straightforward though, meaning that I would be able to counter it easily with a wind release technique. Of course therefore you need to trap or distract your opponent to make it work. The only bad thing that I see about it is that it weakens as it travels, but if you use it in medium range, I highly doubt you will have any problems with it.

Let's earn the achievement we were talking about!

( Ototon Genjutsu: Funka to Botsuraku ) - Sound Release Illusionary Art: Eruption and Downfall
Rank: B
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user charges Ototon chakra into his hands and snaps his fingers, triggering a genjutsu through the emission of high frequency sound waves. As he snaps, the sound is amplified, sounding as if it is directly by the enemy's ear. To them, it sounds as if something has just snapped in half. The user then manipulates the illusion to make it appear as if either a large branch has fallen from a tree or the ground under them has broken clean in half, causing the target to believe they are falling through the earth or have been struck with a large object, pushing them to the earth. The user has control over the illusion, being able to make it seem as if entire trees have been snapped in half, falling on the target or as if an earth structure has collapsed either above or beneath the opponent, etc. The illusion can be edited to fit the situation and even the sound can be slightly altered deepening on the object that is "snapped". Is more effective depending upon the terrain this is used in ( extremely effective in a forest, not effective in a desert ).

A genjutsu technique where you focus chakra into your hands and snap your fingers triggering a genjutsu through the snap you produced. To the opponent it will appear the sound is directly by their ear. Then you can make it seem as if a tree branch has snapped, or an entire tree and make the opponent think it is falling onto them. You can even make it seem as if the earth is splitting apart rupturing, and making the opponent fall into an illusionary chasm.

( Ototon: Teisei Tame Inu) - Sound Release: Whispers to the Canines
Rank: B
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user gathers Ototon chakra in his vocal chords. He then whistles, releasing a high frequency sound wave, creating a sound similar to a faint buzzing in the target's ear, similar to Ringing Madness. However, instead of causing a foe to become disoriented, it impairs his hearing, making the buzzing the only thing that he can hear, seeming as if the target has bees swimming around his ear. The buzzing drowns any sound out, unless they are exceptionally loud (i.e. great explosions, one yelling directly into the target's ear, etc), making it very difficult for the target to hear incoming jutsus or attacks.
Note: Hearing impairment lasts 3 turns

After gathering chakra into your vocal chors you whistle releasing a high frequency sound which will be like a faint buzzing in the targets ear. This buzzing remains in your opponents ear, preventing them from hearing anything except very loud sounds. The impairment lasts for three turns.

(Ototon: Himei Zetsubou no Jutsu) - Sound Release: Scream of Despair Skill
Rank: B
Type: Offensive/Defensive
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 20
Damage Points: 40
Description: Similar to the (Ototon: Hibiki Rendan no Jutsu) - Sound Release: Echo Assault Skill, the user concentrates chakra into their vocal cords, amplifying his/her voice and lets out a scream, roar or a yell. The effect is a large emission of low frequency, high amplitude sound waves but instead of a forward attack, its manipulated into an omnidirectional sound blast that expands outwards all around the user, pushing attacks and enemies backwards with might.

Afte focusing chakra you scream, roar or yell creating a large omnidirectional blast of sound all around you strong enough to push object, people or even certain jutsu away from you.

Alright. This one is for sure one interesting sound based genjutsu. One thing what I immediately noticed is that it essentially allows you to edit the illusion so you can fit the situation thus meaning that you can use this one in any field (e.g. water, swamp like battlefields). Another pro about this technique it that it only requires one snap of the finger to be triggered. It is a fast performable technique and it has many application, allowing the user the full creativity over it. Now about the cons. The only scenario in which I see this being not very effective and applicable is when nothing solid is around. It will just seem easy to detect by the person who you are fighting.

Moving on to the next one. What I like about it is, that the buzzing remains in your opponents ear thus preventing them from hearing most upcoming attacks, even though while it masks small and quiet sounds, those of a louder nature will still be heard. If you manage to put your opponent into the Bringer of Darkness technique and afterwards follow up with this one, you basically shut down most of his senses thus giving you great advantage over him. Of course you can also use it to hide an incoming technique. However, the downside of the technique is that once most techniques enter short range, they will be hear-able unless it states that they do not make any sounds whatsoever. Also, for a sensor or a user of the byakugan, it wouldn't hinder much, if at all, in terms of being able to detect upcoming, hidden techniques.

And the final one. I am a fan of omnidirectional techniques, therefore I certainly like this technique. Obviously, you wouldn't be able to release from genjutsu with it. Also, another con is that it can only be used in short range, which is actually a shame. Likewise, since it states that it can push attacks and enemies backwards with might, does this mean that it can also counter techniques of the same rank (of course against wind one rank lower)?

Yes it can counter them.

(Ototon: Ōkī Hibiki Rendan no Jutsu) - Sound Release: Greater Echo Assault Skill
Rank: A
Type: Offensive
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: 60
Description: This is a much greater and focused version of the (Ototon: Hibiki Rendan no Jutsu) - Sound Release: Echo Assault Skill technique in which the user gathers his sound chakra into his throat as he inhales afterwards exhaling as he screams, yells or roars. The resulting effect is a massive forward shockwave of low frequency, high amplitude sound that levels anything in its path. Unlike its weaker technique, the massive power it carries makes it slightly slower, equal to an average equally ranked Raiton technique. Unlike the unfocused nature of its weaker version, its focused almost like a beam, affecting an area of 50º in front of the user. If used within a water source it receives +20 damage.

Similar to the last technique, focus chakra, scream, yell or roar. That action results in a massive forward shockwave of low frequency, high amplitude sound that level anything in it's path. The massive power it has makes it slower than it's weaker version, equal in speed to a same ranked RAiton technique. It is focused similar to a beam in a 50 degree angle beam in front of you. As always +20 damage in water.

(Ototon: Kireme Yure) - Sound Release: Shattering Vibrations
Rank: A
Type: Offensive/Defensive
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: 60
Description: The user gathers a large amount of sound chakra into both of his hands, creating a vibration field around them that resonates at different, yet low, frequencies. The user will then slam both hands together, forcing them to resonate with each other and explode. This creates a massive sound shockwave that pushes back anything in front of the user in a 160º radius.

After gathering a large amount of chakra in your hands, you create a vibration field that resonates at different low frequencies. As soon as you slam your hands together the chakra explodes in a massive forward shockwave that can push anything in front of the user in a 160 degree radius.

( Ototon: Jakkuhanma ) - Sound Release: Jackhammer
Rank: A
Type: Offensive
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: N/A (60 if contact with the ground remains)
Description: The user charges Ototon chakra into their feet as they run, releasing it as each foot hits the earth and makes sound. As each steps sound off, low frequency waves are released, each wave causing an immense vibration to propagate through the ground and into any enemy, making their bodies lose balance as the waves collide with the target repeatedly. As the waves continue to hit the target, the vibrations increase and cause internal pain, almost as if each wave is drilling into the target's body, causing the target to also become nauseous from the continuous waves. Despite its danger, the technique can easily be defended by simply severing ones contact with the ground.

As you run you charge chakra into your feet, each step creating a sound. As each step sounds of low frequency waves are released causing immense vibrations to flow through the ground into an enemy making their bodies lose balance as the waves collide with the target. The vibrations increase as the target is struck by the waves causing internal pain (thus the name "Jackhammer") the target becoming nauses over time. Drawback is it is easily fended against by losing contact with the ground.

I think that we have already covered this technique, in the B rank version of it. Essentially it is an advanced version of the echo assault technique, so it's relatively straightforward and pretty easy to understand. Obviously, again, it is amazing that it gives an +20 damage when combined with an water technique. I am really liking the sound and water release combos. They seem to be working greatly. The only disadvantage that I see here, is that the technique would be easily countered by a wind release technique. Other than that, it is a pretty good technique when you have your opponent(s) trapped in something (especially in water).

I like that the technique for many reasons. It is fast performable one. Likewise it shatters anything that comes in contact with the technique itself, as it resonates at the specific vibration needed to cause it to explode, making the uses of it very destructive, which is also very cool. It is able to destroy any solid based technique of equal rank obviously, so that is always a plus for sure. Again the only cons is that at mid range it will travel not so fast, meaning, that it will be easy for a good wind user to counter the sound technique. Nonetheless I like this one.

And finally the third and last one. So basically when you step, it releases waves and each causes an intense vibration to be released omnidirectional, which will cause damage upon contact. I like it. Now when I am thinking, the biggest problem of it is that to avoid it, you need to simply get off the earth. It will be that simple and that would be the biggest cons of this technique.

Wow, you're almost done. This should be quick then.

(Ototon: Shinsei) - Sound Release: Divinity
Rank: A
Type: Offensive/Defensive
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: 60
Description: Focusing sound chakra into ones limbs, the user is able to deliver massive taijutsu attacks that can shatter anything on contact, specially solid defenses. When used directly against an enemy, the blows damage the soft tissues of the target if used with a low frequency sound or the targets bones, if used with a high frequency sound. The vibrations don't produce any external effect, unlike what happens with (Ototon: Oto no Ken) - Sound Release: Sonic Fist technique, instead propagating into whatever is touched through direct contact. The user is free in which moves he will perform and can use virtually any stance he knows. However, because it produces no externalization of the vibrations, as the limbs are only infused with sound chakra and the vibrations happen in what is hit, the user cannot attack or defend from things that would otherwise hurt him like bladed weapons, etc.

Alright, this technique is designed to physically damage the opponent and it is very effective at that. It gives you a choice of two frequencies, depending on the severity of damage you want to inflict on your opponent. This technique is ridiculous because you could engage into a hand to hand fight and as you're about to hit the opponent, release the sound to damage the opponent. As it says, it can be used with all stances and moves but with the drawback of being unable to defend that limb if your attack was to connect. All in all, it's a high risk-reward technique and you should be careful with it.

(Ototon: Takanari Kichigai) - Sound Release: Ringing Madness
Rank: A
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user, gathering their sound chakra into their throat and emitting a sound (anything from a simply whistle to speaking or screaming, etc), creates a high frequency wave that targets a foe's ear, causing this portion of sound to remain in their opponents' ears, manifesting as a building ringing sound. The ringing continues to grow as time progresses, originally disrupting how a person hears hampering their ability to think clearly. From that point, it starts to mess with their balance until they become incredibly disorientated, and unable to mold chakra properly due to this.
Note: Lasts 8 turns and reduces damage of the jutsu used against the user by -5 until this effect wears off while increasing the chakra cost of every technique the enemy uses by +10

One of the simplest techniques there is. All you have to do it produce a sound, preferably something unpleasant, and it will be stuck in the opponents ears and he will keep hearing it for a prolonged period of time. The purpose of the technique is to disrupt the opponent and hamper his ability to think and since the sound also affects the inner each, which is responsible for balance, he will start struggling with balance as well.

( Ototon: Midasu no koe ) Sound Release: The voice of Midas
Rank: A
Type: Offensive
Range: Short - Long
Chakra Cost: 30
Damage Points: N/A
Description: The user charges sound chakra into each of their hands and slams them together, creating a sound similar to two heavy golden cymbals crashing together. As the hands slam together, it releases a high pitched, high frequency sound wave, resonating in the enemies ear, and causing muscle paralysis upon hearing it. As the loud sound happens, it creates an echoing amongst the field, trapping any who hear it under paralysis, causing slight pain to them, causing their ear drums to bleed. Paralysis lasts one turn but the user cannot use any other sound techniques for 2 turns after using it.

This technique is just amazing because of the speed of sound. As soon as you clap your hands, the user will be under its effects because he can't hear something much later than it happens. Sound techniques like projectiles, etc aren't that fast, but this one is. On top of that, it paralyzes the opponent which gives you an opening to finish the target, preferably with a swift follow up technique.

I am liking this one very much. I do enjoy close combat fights, hence this one will be for sure helpful, since it obviously delivers solid physically damage to the opponent, and it is definitely ideal with taijutsu. Correspondently I have noticed a detail, that actually makes the technique even greater - since the user is free to use virtually any stance he knows, this means that the person can freely use the current sound release technique alongside any other CFS, as well as taijutsu natured techniques, thus essentially allowing you a greater range of pernicious combos. However, as you have already mentioned yourself, it is a high risk technique and when using it you should be careful with it, because if the opponent is smart, depending on the battle scenario, he can hurt you noxiously. Also another disadvantage is that you cannot defend with it from things that would otherwise hurt you, like bladed weapons for example.

Simple yet very effective. If you time it right, and also combine it with the right technique, you are going to get an outstanding effect out of it. Essentially it is of course a strategic technique. Why? Well because this one is ideal for weakening an opponent, as well as draining their chakra at the same time. And you get all that without any effort, or in other words, without having to physically attack them. The only disadvantage that I see here is that once the opponent starts feeling different, he will simply use a full body surge higher than the technique itself (S-rank one) thus being able to logically get rid from the technique's effects.

And the last one. This one is a blade with two edges. Basically it is a binding sound technique, that works upon the body registering the sound (= instantly). Usually such techniques pertain to sound waves that hinder the targets body or system. The technique consists of a high frequency, low energy wave, which essentially travels at a virtually instant speed, however, it essentially lacks any type of physical damage property. Furthermore the instant aspect of the current technique applies to the traveling speed of these sound waves in the battlefield, basically it doesn't mean the techniques can't be defended from, only that its effects are very fast and the waves are heard instantaneously. Now I did mentioned a blade with two edges, well, if you think about it, the moment you use this technique you cannot use any other sound techniques for two turns after using it, thus simply meaning that if your opponent is smart, he can exploit it and actually strike you with all his power.

Exactly. Spot on. Well done as always. :)

(Ototon Genjutsu: Banshī no te de gōmon no seiki) Sound Release Illusionary Art: A Century of Torture at the Hands of a Banshee
Type: Offensive
Rank: S-Rank
Range: Short-Long
Chakra: 40
Damage: N/A
Description: The most powerful sound illusion to be created, A Century of Torture at the Hands of a Banshee is a deviant technique, capable of rendering even the most powerful of enemies riddled with fear. The user will focus his sound chakra into a sound he will produce and which will carry the illusion and trigger it on any enemy that hears it. The illusion triggered is simple but surprisingly effective in all its simplicity: pain. Anyone who hears the sound will feel unimaginable amounts of pain all over their body to such an extent that they may even vomit and lose control of their chakra flow. Upon facing such pain, the enemy will lose control over his body and spasm as they curl to try and alleviate the pain. The longer the target is caught in the illusion the more severe the effect is. The illusion however is just that: an illusion. The pain isn't real or associated with any bodily aspect or damage. The user must, however, sustain the inducing sound and focus into his chakra flow (not being able to mold chakra at the same time) to sustain the effects of the illusion as when the sound ends, the enemy stops feeling the pain and recovers virtually immediately. Sounds that can trigger the illusion and carry it can vary from a whistle (very effective as it can be sustained for a lengthy time and be controlled), scream (less lengthy but easier to perform), music (if the user has a musical instrument), etc. If the sound is momentary, however, it will not induce an effective effect.
Note: usable once every 4 turns
Note: while sustaining the sound, the user cannot attack or move from his position, risking otherwise disturbing the sound he's producing and ending the illusion.

Pain on hearing a sound? Hell yeah! How amazing can that be? Just look at all those side effects. It is the perfect torture technique and it has the best medium for induction. Problem is, you have to keep fueling the technique otherwise it would stop so your best bet are clones and accomplices.

(Ototon: Ōkibo na Hibiki Rendan no Jutsu) - Sound Release: Massive Echo Assault Skill
Rank: S
Type: Offensive
Range: Short-Long
Chakra Cost: 40
Damage Points: 80
Description: This is a much greater and skilled version of the (Ototon: Hibiki Rendan no Jutsu) - Sound Release: Echo Assault Skill technique in which the user gathers his sound chakra into his throat as he inhales afterwards exhaling as he screams, yells or roars. The resulting effect is a massive shockwave of low frequency, high amplitude destructive sound that levels anything in its path. The biggest different is that the user can control the area of affect of the technique, depending on the range he targets and the angle of the sound waves his sound waves take. 180º to 90º, the technique is Short Ranged. 90º to 45º, the technique is Mid-Range and from 5º to 45º the technique is Long Ranged. If used within a water source it receives +20 damage.
Note: Usable once every 3 turns

Just an advanced technique of the one that you already learned with Cobalt. I don't really have much to add onto it. Make sure to always try to use it with water for the additional boost in both speed and damage. :)

(Ototon: Ten Ribenji) - Sound Release: Heavenly Revenge
Rank: S
Type: Offensive
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost: 40
Damage: 80
Description: The user stomps his foot on the ground and releases a massive amount of sound chakra, amplifying the "stomp" sound which is released as a wave of low frequency sound through the ground and also through the air, all around. This omni directional sound "explosion" causes the ground to crack open in an omnidirectional area around the user up to mid range and pushes the air all around through massive sound vibrations. These are able to stop any incoming attack (following logic and elemental interactions) but also disable and stop any attack or thing moving or traveling through the ground.

It's labeled as offensive although its description makes it seem as if it's more defensively oriented. Still an amazing technique due to it being omnidirectional. They don't approve a lot of omnidirectional techniques anymore, so I'm sure you'll love this one.

(Ototon: Sazanami no Kosui) - Sound Release: Ripple of the Lake
Rank: S
Type: Supplementary/Offensive
Range: Short
Chakra Cost: 40
Damage Points: 80
Description: A technique that stands as a combination of both the (Ototon: Oto no Ken) - Sound Release: Sonic Fist and the (Ototon: Shinsei) - Sound Release: Divinity. The user will gather massive amounts of chakra into his limbs and deliver a single, powerful blow into a given target. Not only does the chakra engulf the chosen limb in an aura of vibrations and destructive low frequency sound waves but also, upon making contact with the target, channels the sound into the target, causing vibrations to ripple through the target. What happens is a massive shockwave that blasts outwards on contact, causing massive destruction all around up to the limits of Short-range, producing a small crater (if it hit an opponent, he is sent backwards into long range). This effect is amplified by the sound vibrations infiltrated into the target which ripple through it and cause destruction from within it. The damage is higher on softer tissue which is severely bruised. The technique is highly effective again liquids and highly dense solids.

Need a technique to kill? Here it is. As a combination of those two mentioned techniques, it is incredibly powerful and gives you amazing destruction power up to 5 meters away from you. This is great because you don't necessarily have to be that close to the opponent which reduces the risk factor by a bit. Same as other techs, since sound travels faster through solids, water and earth could provide great combos.

Finally a sound genjutsu. Amazing! Well this one is pretty obvious. I don't think I need to explain a lot about it, since it is really well explained in the technique description already. Basically, as long as you make the sound, the opponent will experience pain, that they perceive to be real. It is the perfect torture technique that there is, when it come to illusionary sound techniques, as you have mentioned yourself.

Okay I have covered this so many times that I am tired of doing it again and again. How many versions does this technique posses for god sake! Basically a stronger version of the other versions. It posses the same advantages and disadvantages as the others. It's just stronger.

Yeah you are right. This one is also amazing. What I am really liking is that it is released as a wave of low frequency sound through the ground and etc, but more importantly through the ground. Basically if your opponent is hiding in there, you can simply obliterate him. It is also omnidirectional which is really cool, and as you said I see more defensive purposes for it than offensive ones.

Another one which is good for close combat. Basically, if you get a good shot, you rapidly deliver a blow towards your opponent, as the blow blasts him into long range and effectively clears the short range perimeter. You would probably have to aim for the neck or the temple so it can cause enough damage to kill, basically the powerful force will cause the brain to rattle against itself and cause several brain injuries and potentially strokes. Of course soon after, the opponent will be dead for sure.

Finally a sound genjutsu. Amazing! Well this one is pretty obvious. I don't think I need to explain a lot about it, since it is really well explained in the technique description already. Basically, as long as you make the sound, the opponent will experience pain, that they perceive to be real. Alright then, this concludes your sound training. You may go forth and submit your own customs now. Also, we'll need to bump our CJ thread and you need to post in the CFS thread.
