The real, most important conflict Kishi established from the beginning that had to be resolved, was between Naruto and Sasuke. That, all of us know.
However, if we withdraw such status as "main character", and look at the condition of the story of a little earlier period from the ending, it is pretty obvious that Kaguya was the center of importance that will decide the fate of humanity's existence as a whole.
Yeah, sad to think about it, but that fight was way more important in the way of what was at stake.
I think that it would've made way more sense if Naruto and Sasuke kicked Madara's ass, but apprently a villain that was foreshadowed, and fleshed out for hundreds of chapters, is not a right match.
INSTEAD, we got a brand new, mute, crying villain, that somehow gave birth to black goo that puts Aizen's plans to shame... And wants an army of white Zetsu... And dipises everyone... for reasons...
So what was the point of all that plan?!?!?!? She is most powerful being in history of Narutoverse, but arguably the most plot-holed, pointless, nonsensical character with the most laughable reasons for her "malice"...
