I like the manga better because of how bad ass Mirai Trunks became. How he went full-out SSJ2 against SSJ3 Goku was amazing. I know Vegeta was proud.
More descriptive? Come on lol. It was only more descriptive on trunks fight against Babidi. The champa tournament arc was rushed and it wasn't descriptive at all. They completely jumped the fight against frieza too..Manga greater and better than the anime. Period. Better flow of story and more descriptive. Doesn't complicate things.
Why is the manga better? First off the tournament arc had Hit and Goku break the power scaling. If Hit's time skip kept getting better and better how the hell would Champa or Beerus be able to compete with that? Same with Kaioken. It was just the animes way of pleasing the fan base by showing Goku transform. Well probably never see it again. The manga kept the fights simple and within a normal scaling. Making the scene where Champa threatens to destroy hit a lot more believable. (Hit could probably beat Champa in the anime so that scene means little to nothing).
Story wise we also know why certain things are the way they are in the manga. If you had only read/watched one or the other there be many things left unanswered in the anime. While the manga touches on all bases.
Toriyama complained just about the animation. Manga isn't completely canon, nor is anime.Manga is cannon.
1. Manga and Anime stories both comes from Toriyama, but in anime case:
Akira Toriyama writes the plot outline, and then a team of writers creates the script, expanding, adding, and changing elements from Toriyama's plan as they deem appropriate.[8] The original suggestions for some of the storylines come from the editorial office, then Toriyama writes the outlines. [9] However, Toriyama has seemingly complained about the anime's quality at points.[10]
Writters expand and change axpect of Toriyama's story if they want, but that's not part of Toriyama's work, which mean non-cannon.
So things that are different in anime than manga is non cannon.
In manga:
Akira Toriyama writes plot outlines which Toyotarō uses as a basis for the stories and Toriyama personally helps put the manga together. Toyotarō creates the dialogue and illustrations, expanding, adding, and changing elements from Toriyama's plan as he deems appropriate. Akira Toriyama believes Toyotarō's freedom to change the story makes the final product better.[1] Akira Toriyama also checks through all of Toyotarō's storyboards for the manga.[2][1]
In manga, toyotaro has power to also change, expand, add some elements, but he was given completly freedom by Toriyama and Toriyama even thinks it's better that way.
