It is your job as a manly figure to step up to the plate, rise to the occasion, and give her the seat. If you see a woman on her way to work standing on the bus, you should offer her your seat, she doesn't have to be elderly, pregnant or bearing a child. Whatever happened to us being gentle men?
I wrote it above on what was wrong of chivalry of today.
They are now a means to step on and take for granted. Thus, people become horrid creatures who do not deserve to be respected nor do they respect themselves.
If you were approached by a disgusting disrespectful openly racist woman who demands that you give up your seat for her, how would you react?
Keep in mind, if you yield your seat, you will send out the wrong idea that her behaviour is acceptable to the public. To which the public will decide that she must be taught a lesson.
You may be good at heart but your actions may lead to horrible consequences. A gentleman must be prepared carry that burden and know when to stop being kind.
Much like a father delivering a punishment to his children to teach them an important lesson even though his kids will hate him for it.
EDIT: also, just because she is a woman, does not mean she deserves your spot. That's plain sexism.
That may actually offend some feminists.
As stated from my previous comment, it was easier back then. Women were ALL demanded to behave like ladies (because they have no choice - you know sexism and what not) but the fact that they were ladies, they were treated as such. Men are always chivalrous to women at that point.
Up until recently, in the 60s, when the rebel culture really taken a great popularity, all that orderly fashion collapsed.
People are no longer expected/inclined to be gentlemen/ladies.
