It's a flawed system that doesn't have a right answer.
A woman who becomes pregnant and wants the child can do what she pleases, and vice versa. The woman has absolute control over what becomes of the fetus, regardless of any male input, even the eventual father's. If she wants the kid and the father doesn't, he's forced to pay child support for X amount of time. If the woman wants the child but the father doesn't, tough luck. However, how exactly is an issue like this fixed?
I'm personally against abortion, but that's only because I personally look at a fetus like I would a newborn child. It's a human in the making, just like boys and girls are men and women in the making. There are plenty alternatives to ending a life, but that's just my opinion. Then you have the people who believe that a fetus is nothing more than a parasite, and will be nothing more than a parasite. It's like throwing away a perfectly good cake, while it's in the baking pan, before you bake it in the oven. Just.. what?
The only situation where I've ever been neutral and not against abortion are rape incidents. To me, I can half-way justify abortion in this scenario because the mother would be going through a lot of trauma from being raped and having a child, etc. etc. etc.. it'd be a messy situation and it's perfectly logical that someone would want to avoid that. But as far as I'm concerned, abortion isn't okay in any other scenario whatsoever regardless of the details.
Regardless of my personal philosophies, taking away a woman's
right to do what she wants with her body is almost as bad as abortion itself. Fathers and future fathers should have much influence on the pregnant woman's final decision, but at the end of the day, it's all her and that's where the decision needs to stay.
TL;DR - Should fathers have a say? Yes. Should their say be voiced to the point of her ultimate decision being overruled? No.
Didn't read the other comments so idk if somone said it before.
If the woman wants to keep the baby but the man doesn't want it, he should have the chance to sign a contract in which he refuses everything that has something to do with the baby.
That means no
-alimony
-visits
-name of his in it's birth certificate.
If he wants to keep it and she doesn't, then idk.
Tbh, you shouldn't be having *** if you're not mature enough to have a child. And if you're willing to take risks, then face the consequences like real adults do. Extremely easy and efficient way to avoid a situation like this...
Oh, and it's completely unfair for a guy to have *** with a girl, get her pregnant, then bounce and say he doesn't want the child and force the woman/government to do what a real man should be doing in the first place.
