Should Dwarves(Dwarfs?) be allowed to have children?

So two dwarfs who decide to procreate are at a high risk of having a dwarf baby and a 50% chance the baby won't live, not to mention high risk of death for the mother.


The same argument is used as the only defense of banning incest.


What is the difference? Should they be allowed to procreate?

I don't know that the government should have that much control over individual choices... I think a better alternative would be to make this information more widely available and procreation warned against. As long as it's an informed decision it should be up to the two whether they want take the risk of biological children of their own or not.

Maybe also make it easier for 2 dwarves to adopt a child than whatever it's current level of difficulty is.

No, but because many people are gay, and I can talk to them, I can get a sense of the issue from their point of view, and make a more educated opinion. If my opinion is only going to be based on my singular, outsider perspective, as well as the perspective of other outsiders, it's probably an incomplete opinion, and I'm not interested in forming one.

It's ultimately their choice whether dwarves (in slimreaper's case, his sister, since he's arguing for incest) should be allowed to reproduce. People can always go to a physician for a quick DNA test to see their carrier's affinity, get advice from a professional's perspective, etc. To ban reproduction from a certain sect of people is simply eugenics.
