Shikamaru could be the strongest

I reckon if shikamaru had a major boost of chakra via kyuubi or any of the other tailed beasts, he could actually be one of "the" strongest ninjas in naruto. For those who disagree he:
* is one of the greatests thinkers in naruto genius level
* he is the ninja who defeated the immortal akatsuki guy
* he was the only one in his age group to pass the chunin exams
* he was considered to have the strategic mind of a general
* his shadow abilities are powerful enough to stop and control super powerful ninja's
* he can be 200 steps ahead in a fight
Therefore, with all of these qualities in addition to additional chakra he could in fact be the most powerful ninja in the leaf. Especially, if the chakra source is the Kyuubi. He would most probably be unstoppable!!!:no_ignore:

Yea he is smart, but i don't think his shadows are that powerful. He needs a wider range of jutsu. Why do you think his father didn't become the strongest? His father is smarter than he is i heard, and his shadow techs would be alot stronger than Shika'z.

Yeah, but intelligence is the ONLY thing he has. He lacks jutsu, strength, speed, Genjutsu, Taijutsu... Get where I'm heading?

His intelligence is great, yes. That allows him to beat Hidan and other Akatsuki members. Hell he may be THE best out of the Konoha Nine (other than Naruto and Sasuke obviously). But he lacks jutsu. All of the main baddies nowadays aren't even affected by the shadow bind. Kinkaku broke it, Naruto broke it, Tayuya was resisting it, Madara could just teleport away from it, seeing as his space-time jutsu doesn't need hand signs and is thus not controlled by Shikamaru....

no dude..... since shika lacks powerful chakra he could never control any tailed beast....
he ll just become like gaara and would go on rampage under the control of a tailed beast and i dont think tailed beast are as smart as shika...... so again it there ll b a free tailed beast and everyone again ll have to make efforts to recapture it...

There is no dought that shikamaru is the smartest charecter ( even madara admit it)
but there is no way that he can control a tailbeast i mean he is just fairly enough powerfull without it.

For you to control a beast you must have alot of chakra yourself specially if you are trying to control the beast with the most chakra. He is very smart but hes not the type.

Another guy who would be even more powerful would be kakashi if he had a bijuu but again could he even control his bijuu sense most of them dont really work with their host.

I agree that he could become powerful if he could improve his ninjutsu but I wouldn't go so far as to say he'd be the strongest

I agree, to a certain degree. Shikamaru's Achilles heel in most of his battles seem to be stamina. We also know that the chakra of bijuu's can be used to amplify jutsu's, so the extra chakra boost would certainly complement his current fighting style and thus be a massive upgrade for him.

Wrong! controlling a tail beast has nothing to do with courage.And it doesn't have anything to do with body strength.There have been many shinobis who had never been able to control tail beasts, do you think the reason was because they weren't courageous enough?Secondly, Shikamaru has shown great courage throughout the series.

Yeah Id have to agree with GodaimeRaikage you dont have to have courage to control a tailed beast (your probably only referring to naruto) theres no evidence that suggests this. Also, you dont necessarily need to have a massive amount of chakra to control a tailed beast (although this is shown later on in life... in explanation) a few of the junichuuriki's had the tailed beasts put inside them when they were young (baby in naruto and gaara) so common sense would suggest that chakra amount isnt required..

Furthermore, to infernozz his shadow jutsus can kill enemies (as shown in the sand invasion during the chunin exams with his father). With further training and a chakra boost Shikamaru can still be the strongest in the leaf.
- naruto really only had one powerful attack move his resengan but with training he attained sage mode, improved his resengan and a "few" other things
- also, what point would strength or power be if your enemy already knows and (I emphasize) expects what you would be doing (again I refer to his fight against the akasuki guy) who was way stronger, faster and had a huge amount of chakra

Kishi seems to only focus on characters who are pivotal to the Naruto vs Sasuke narrative.I complete agree he could and should have made the Nara Clan stronger.I alway thought since Shikamaru and his father are so intelligent that they both could have come up with some amazing shadow jutsus that come have been introduced during the time Naruto return to the village.I mean, wouldn't it be cool for the Nara Clan to be able to make their shadow into domes to protect themselves for defensive purposes and use the the shadow dome to trap their opponents while using the shadow sewing to killed them inside from a offensive stand point.But that will never happen because Shikamaru isn't a main cast member in the Naruto/Sasuke bromance film.
