Seriously how strong was Itachi

Saying he lost because he was abit weaker at the moment doesn't say he wasn't fight at full power. He just didn't have his usual amount, so his full power was about half of what it was when he was stronger.

Itachi beats almost most.
1. He pulled Sasuke to the end, while being very very sick (He died due to it, so he was already at his limit). You try fighting like that, when you are about to die. A situation like that leaves you at 20% power. A dieing person ain't the same as a fit one. He also killed Orochimaru in about 5 seconds. Not to mention his Sasonukee is impenetrable, and penetrates anything.
2. Itachi vs Jirayai. This wouldn't be a fight, as Itachi still had an endgoal of protecting Konoha. Why would he fight someone who has the same goals as him? Even if he would fight him, I wouldn't see Itachi go all out ot kill Jirayai, but rather just to keep himself alive and avoid the fight.
3. Granny Tsunade is by far stronger then we think. She is for a REASON one of the selected to become hokage. I am 100% sure we haven't seen 100% of her potential strength yet. I hope we will in future
I believe Itachi was one of the most powerfull characters in the manga. We most likely have never seen Itachi even fight at full power (atleast not all the potential power he had when he died). Then again, he was one of the good characters, so they don't have the urge to fight en destroy, which often hids their true powers. One facts I believe that show Itachi that he never really pushed out his true power, is for one that he was never suprised, he always had a reaction if anyone pulled out something dangerous on him. We never seen a fight with Itachi fighting with honest intention of killing .... How can one pull out his true power then ?
4. Madara is by far not the strongest person. He maybe used to be, but as Itachi once said :"He is only a shell of his forme self". It speaks for itself. He still seems good at manipulating people for his goals, but I don't think he has the power capable to fight some of the top-people currently.
5. Orochimaru was extremely powerfull ... but I believe he wasn't a match for Itachi. Orochimaru pulled off a kill on the Thirth, but was close
My list of strongest people would be :
1. Fourth (Hokage at his age speaks for itself)
2. First
3. Itachi
4. Orochimaru (Yes Oro above Sasuke, even though Sasu beat him. The level of strenght of Oro was a lot higher still as you could see in the advanced jutsu. Oro was dumb enough to try catch Sasuke in a genjutsu, which is the specialty of the Sharingan ... a very dumb mistake)
5.Thirth
6. Pain (None knows how strong he really is)
7. Jiraiya
8. Second
9. Sasuke
10. Madara
But then again, it all depends who matches who in a fight.
We don't know anything about the new Sasuke atm , but I think he might be skyrocketed in the top 5.

As I see it, Naruto would barely make my top 15. Yeah, Naruto has some incredible powers using the kyuubi power, which he can't control. So basically it doesn't make him very powerfull for the time being, caus he would kill his foe , as his friends. He wouldn't be protecting Konoha this way, he'd be destroying both.
I expect to see Naruto grow in the future mangas. As for one maybe whatever power or ability Itachi gave Naruto ... or Naruto training with the toads in the mountains ... who knows.
But I still see Naruto as a kid , equalling power of some of his friends, all depending on what fight and what situation.
Naruto currently in my opinion is an idiot. He screams and charges without thinking. Doing this against a mortal enemy will have you killed in seconds. I expect to see a Naruto developping, and see a sort of character looking his father. I don't see Naruto being able to fight anyone at the level as the Fourth, Orochimaru, Thirth , Sasuke etc are, not unless he improves (which looks very likely to me). The death of Jirayai will trigger this in my opinion

Yeah ... as seen in previous mangas, the residence of the fox makes Naruto better, have more stamina and such. It all adds to the equation

kabuza got hit with not only a powerful ability but a great strategy and thats where naruto has strength he always thinks a move ahead and no matter what he never gives up and if push come to shove the fox takes over

Yeah exept the first attempt he failed badly. What if that target was Pain , which has the mission of killing him? He would have taken the first chance to finish him. It would already be the end of Naruto
My point, Naruto has skill and power, but he has too much f*ck ups first. He needs to get his things straight, not leave openings. Everytime now people which end up vs naruto seem to start toying with him, and then get owned in the end. What happens when Naruto ends up vs someone who will go for the kill the first opening he gets ?
As for the future manga, I believe we will see a Naruto being able to control a large chunck of the for power on his own will. Naruto and sasuke are the main focus of this story, and the fox is a part of who Naruto is. Seems logical to me that the fox and it's power will eventually will become a part of Naruto to control.
yea i agree that he will be able to control it or one other thing i was thinking about maybe the fox will be released and naruto will have to rely on his strength but i dont like when people hating on naruto right now he is very strong and if he was fighting pain and made a mistake and pain attacked with a killer move naruto would still come out on top

if itachi was in good health and actually wanted to kill sasuke he couldve. but he wasnt and he didnt. only one who came close were naruto and jiriaya. jiriaya when he came to konoha after the 3rd's death and almost killed him with his toad stomach enclosure technique. and naruto in shippuuden when he used oodama rasengan on itachi's duplicate, and even if it was the real full strength itachi. it would've killed him. and naruto is the main character and jiriaya is just b.a. like that. so i'd say itachi is pretty b.a. too
yeah I agree, narutos rasengan has one weakness: youve got to hit the enemy!!!! I mean if somebody charges at you with an ax, dont you avoid him?? or at least run?? and naruto doesnt have great speed and his not sneaky either...

well he got him by surprise, and kakashi had him in a hold until just before it hit. i dont think even itachi would have been able to find out what happened, get wawy from kakashi and stop naruto in like a second. cuz even though naruto isnt the fastest thing on earth, he can get going pretty fast when he is using the rasengan. but we will never know now
