Ok so I have admittedly been kind of harsh on Sasuke's character here in the past, mostly because the worship of him is both irritating and (imo) for the wrong reasons. But he has started to grow on me recently as I have been rereading the manga. Forget all of that though, this is about things that he said in 699. First, the way he talks to Sakura about his "journey":

This raises a lot of questions, but I don't have much to say about it. I just feel it is necessary information.

Next up is what he says to Naruto and what he is thinking at the very end of the chapter.

First I would like to briefly mention the "real fight" bit and wonder aloud if we will ever get to see that fight.

But, more importantly, the application of Naruto's concept to "bigger things". What I'm thinking also ties into the whole idea that the Uchihas feel love more strongly than anyone else and (because of this) are extremists by nature. I think that Sasuke, now feeling Naruto's love for him and having renewed hope, plans to try to spread this idealism around the world and create ultimate peace or something. It's also because he is ashamed of what he has done to Konoha and he is sort of punishing himself.

So I think Sasuke is going to become like a missionary of Naruto or something. But yeah idk. This is all interesting to me. Sorry it's so disorganized I made all this like 30 minutes ago on a whim and then got really excited and decided to make this thread.

Also I wonder if that is similar to what Hamura did (I haven't followed The Last at all so maybe it's covered there somewhere).

Naruto wasn't trying though. And Sasuke hadn't mastered the Rinnegan.

I also made this if anyone wants it...

He was trying to stay alive if I'm not mistaken. Indras arrow would have killed him if the Fox didn't gather extra nature energy.
Naruto wasn't trying to kill him. But he was certainly trying to stay alive. And that in itself is the real battle

Where did you find the manga in color or Where can I read those colored scans
Shueisha colors it. But it's in Japanese. I edited in the VIZ translations. And the Shueisha colors are only available for free for 693-700. I have a way to buy them online but it's only up to Sasuke and Itachi vs Kabuto.

I think the real fight they never had is a full-out spar that is meant to be a test of skills but is friendly in nature: basically what Naruto was looking forward to in the Chunin exams that never happened.

Although there's a lot of joking about Chapter 700 Sasuke and what he's doing in the woods, in reality he is probably the modern NV version of Hagoromo - in a Sasuke kind of way, of course.

Yeah it is. But it's still decisive as to who is the stronger one between them.

As for the Hagoromo stuff...idk. Kaguya saw Hamura in Sasuke. We just don't know anything about him haha.

Nice thread.

And Sasuke is confirmed to have left because...
At the end of 699, Sasuke leaves the village to go traveling. Entermix asks what was the intention of this and Kishimoto-sensei responds that after all of the things Sasuke has done, it would be tough to live in the village like everybody else so he went on a journey of atonement. Further, in Kishimoto-sensei’s mind, Sasuke has gone out into the world to find the answers to all of the unanswered questions. For example, who and what was Kaguya exactly? Sasuke wants to find out how her plan for revival was executed the first time around so it could be avoided in the future. In order to unnecessarily avoid lengthening the manga, however, Kishimoto-sensei decided to skip writing about it and he has no plans to continue that storyline.

Thank you :)

And yeah someone linked that earlier in the thread. But if that's all, then what "bigger things" and applications of whatever it is Naruto showed him could he have been talking about?

One thing I don't get? If Kishi really did not want to extend the series. Than why did he make a part 3?
He just meant not for Naruto's generation I guess.

1 issue, if Naruto was trying to kill him, he would have stayed alive easily , but of course it would have resulted in Sasuke's death. What NAruto was trying to do was, counter balance Sasuke. So everything turns out equal.
