In Naruto he was stronger because naruto wanted him to be. Remember the fight with Gaara, Sasuke couldnt have possibly beaten Gaara with his one tail But Naruto did. So its unfair to compare.

Naruto targeted Sasuke's forehead protector, not his head. He did so because earlier Sasuke claimed he couldn't even put a scratch on it. That was his way of defying and proving him wrong. And unlike Sasuke, he wasn't willing to kill him and as impaling someone who doesn't have a healing factor, and with the Kyubi's chakra no less, would almost certainly kill them.

well i don't think that sasuke is so powerful like you are referring.I admit that Naruto was stupid in the acadamy but you know the reasons,don't you?
also during the exams Naruto beat Orochimaru and Gaara whom sasuke had feared.Also don't forget that one of the reason for sasuke leaving the village is also due to Naruto caz he was way stronger then he was......
Now come to the valley of dead....If naruto would have gone for the kill from the start then Sasuke would have died there.Naruto was just trying to prove him wrong and bring him back.
Now come to the ongoing Manga...sasuke's power have not been shown yet but i am pretty sure that Naruto will be stronger then him.....after all he is going to surpass the SO6P
