But then, once again ( and you can't avoid it. ) that was also Naruto's resolve from the very beginning. I think Kishi screwed up a lot in that aspect. He done the same thing with the 'Hokage' dream and made every single character with the dream a rebellious, obnoxious young teenager. I think the only exception is Dan.
Also I was about to mention the time when Sasuke left the village, but you beat me to it xP. In all honestly, if Sasuke does turn out to have ulterior motives, I REALLY hope there's a tender moment between Sakura and him when she tries to stop him.
Romance has never been Kishi's thing, it's probably the most rare aspect of Naruto. But damn that moment when Sasuke appeared behind Sakura and said 'Thank you' was so heartwarming :')
