So you understand that Sasuke has come to terms with the fact that Itachi and his clansmen were sacrifices to protect the village, and that is why he wants to save it. If he can't then all of his clansmen died in vain.

But OP is spot on. Sasuke hasn't a single quality necessary for any leader, let alone somebody who doesn't belong in a padded cell. He's a textbook basket case and a non-sympathetic one at that.
