The first time, yes, but was still dying and had no killing intent or even all of his kinjutsus. Orochimaru only got his arms back after Sasuke brought him back, so he was armless the second time and didn't even have a body.

A 16 year old Sasuke may be more powerful than a 16 year old Orochimaru, but Sasuke is also arguably more powerful than a 16 year old Itachi as well.

First of all, genjutsu skill means nothing against defending against genjutsu. Sasuke, with a 3.5, was able to put Itachi in an illusion and break Tsukiyomi. Kurenai also put Itachi in an illusion, as well as Kabuto who only has a 4.5 in genjutsu.

Secondly, Itachi didn't subdue Orochimaru at all. He resisted Itachi's paralyzing genjutsu and was about to make a kai handseal to break it.

No, getting Itachi's BODY was a dream that he couldn't accomplish. He was in the organization to get Itachi's body, when he couldn't he had no reason to stay.

So he put a weakened Orochimaru with no killing intent in an ineffective genjutsu and cut off the hand of someone that can just put it back on or grow a new one... wow, yeah, that's really "winning."

What happened is that Orochimaru tried to take Itachi's body, then left when Itachi rejected him.

Orochimaru is suggested to be more powerful than the Gokage, and has been deemed a threat to EMS Sasuke. If Itachi were truly that powerful then he could had stopped Akatsuki himself... but he couldn't, because he isn't that powerful. He said he's below Tobi and equal to Jiraiya. That's his standing in the manga. Understanding that, it makes sense why he couldn't stop Akatsuki himself since he was a good guy.

depends how he went about things, knowing Orochimaru he probably tried his mind games. Nonetheless, we don't know what happened but it seems that Itachi did possibly fall into his dimension.
