(Not a shipper, I don't care for romances or Karin or whatever, only ship I ever cared about was Ino & Chouji so don't go spamming the 'u jus jealos dat karin isnt mother' as if it actually means anything to me.)

This has been a problem the entire run of the series with our main 'romance'. Simply, Sasuke doesn't and has never shown respect for Sakura.

Negative words are a form of abuse and they fall into the “verbal abuse” category. Verbal abuse (also known as reviling) is described as a negative defining statement told to the victim or about the victim, or by withholding any response, thereby defining the target as non-existent. If the abuser does not immediately apologize and retract the defining statement, the relationship may be a verbally abusive one. Soon enough you'll notice how every cute image of these two together I could find on Google Images just happens to be fanart. Odd huh.

Telling someone that they’re annoying, that they aren’t worth their time, things along the lines of that is a form of verbal abuse. It completely shuts Sakura off and defines her as non-existent. It belittles her character emotions and development. (Not once has Sasuke taken account for his actions)For some, verbal abuse doesn’t really cut it. How about physical abuse? Emotional abuse? Does that leave a message to you? Because that is all displayed in the SasuSaku ship.

Starting off with emotional abuse, verbal abuse adds to the damage of her personality and psych. That kind of negative influence is extremely traumatizing to a person’s thoughts and feelings, often resulting in things like depression. Acting like Sakura’s opinions are not valued, telling her that she’s annoying, constantly giving her the cold shoulder adds to her psychological damage. It even sets back her character development for a bit, if you will. It completely negatively influences her actions, constantly causing her to refrain from doing any of them in fear of upsetting Sasuke. This theme of verbal abuse is constantly displayed in the series, and I don’t get how everyone overlooks it because:

There since the very beginning and ending of the series. For whatever reason, it’s seen as “romantic” because it is a reoccurring theme for their characters and is “their thing”. This is not romantic. “Annoying” is a negative word and is being used negatively in each and every scenario (in which two of them are followed by Sakura being knocked out). This is abusive.

Enough of verbal abuse, though, let’s move on to physical. As mentioned above, there have been two instances in which Sakura was knocked out. One by actual force and the other by genjutsu. Let me address each one separately:

The first time is when Sasuke plans to leave Konoha to avenge his brother, only to be stopped by Sakura who confesses her love to him in an effort to make him stay (which, by the way, is psychological/emotional manipulation and is another form of abuse). Sasuke proceeds to call her annoying, say one “thank-you” and then knock her out cold on a bench. Why is this considered okay? Why is it considered okay to knock out the person that you supposedly “love” on a bench and leave her there during the duration of the night?

The second time is followed by the same concept: Sakura confesses her love to Sasuke in an effort to make him stay, Sasuke calls her annoying, and then uses genjutsu to knock her out. And why does everyone seem to forget how damaging this is to a person’s body? Back when Itachi used his mangekyou on Kakashi, he was unconscious until Naruto came back with Tsunade. Sakura, however, has been shown to have exceptional skills in the identification of genjutsu and, yet, was knocked out. This will add abuse to her body. (Genjutsu has been shown multiple times to drain a person of their ability to move and think properly throughout the series as well).
Yet again, this is all dismissed by the SasuSaku fandom because they claim to count it as “their thing”. In fact, some think it’s sweet that he didn’t “kill her”. It’s neither sweet nor romantic. This is abusive.

That’s not where it ends, though. After the fight with Danzo, Sakura chases after Sasuke with an objective to kill him, due to the emotional pain Naruto was suffering in regards to Sasuke. Sakura came to the fight with the full intent to kill Sasuke (because that’s completely healthy for a relationship), but it did a 180 and Sasuke ended up seeing right through her, nearly killing her if it weren’t for Kakashi’s intervention. If you’re a SasuSaku fan reading this right now, you’ll say something all the lines of this: “Sasuke wasn’t in his right mind!” Okay? And? Why should this excuse his actions? (Serious abuse TW in the next few lines - skip over if you have troubles with abuse at home) In some abusive households, a husband will come home drunk, OUT OF HIS MIND and hit his wife. This, in common society, is not overlooked and seen as a form of abuse. Why is Sasuke’s case not? This is abusive. Accept it as it is: confront it.

Repeating my former point, verbal/physical abuse adds heavily onto emotion/psych. It destroys a person. Some people get PTSD, D.I.D (dissociative identity disorder), etc as a form of escape from any of it. Sakura’s psych has been completely ****ed to the point of no return. She has already been scarred, just like Naruto and anyone else closely associated with Sasuke.

And my final proof of abuse being displayed through the ship is the constant emotional (psychological) manipulation shown throughout their interactions. Psychological manipulation is a type of social influence that aims to change the perception or behavior of others through underhanded, deceptive, or even abusive tactics.

Ever been in a situation where you didn’t want to do something but your friend kept saying things like “but I did that thing for you that one time!” or “I love you!”? That’s the person aiming to tug at your emotions to change your perspective. This is seen as abusive. WAY too many times do we see Sakura constantly telling Sasuke that she loves him and asks him to stay: emotional manipulation. That’s what it is. She’s attempting to GUILT him into staying by saying that she loves him and that it hurts her to see him go. This has happened twice, maybe three times in total throughout the series. It is abusive. There’s no denying it. This is abusive.

Sasuke has in numerous occasions displayed no affection towards Sakura and in the recent chapter admitted to having no interest for her at all (for those curious about ***********: a friend of mine found a raw manga cap and verified that what Sasuke said was closest to the mangapanda translation, stating that he was not interested in Sakura). In the original Naruto series, no matter how many times Sasuke continued to show his disinterest in Sakura, she kept going after him. This is wrong. Even in the Naruto Shippuden series, I’m sure she’s more than aware of how Sasuke feels, yet she chooses to tug at his emotions by saying that she loves him when, realistically speaking, he doesn’t care. He shouldn’t, either. He doesn’t owe anything to her other than apology. He doesn’t have to stay in the village, he doesn’t have to reciprocate his feelings. The constant attempt to get together with him/change his mindset by manipulation is gross and distasteful to watch.

Don’t tell me this ship is not abusive because, yes, it is. They negatively scar each other for life. Just imagine a relationship. And dear god Sarada is lucky she turned out as she did. She deserved to be the next Uchiha psycho.

EDIT: Why do you care so much about a fictional marriage? It doesn't matter.

Everything in your OP is outdated (I quickly skimmed but it's pretty clear). They later got married and had a child, and Sasuke was nothing but respectful to her in Gaiden.

I totally agree with you. I didn't read the entire post but this is a big reason why Sakura and Sasuke are my least favorite characters. Sakura acts like a weak and submissive kunoichi when she chases after the inconsiderate prick that is Sasuke.

Because in Japan it's loved and too many people are normalising this and giving sh*tty things like this a pass. Fiction influences culture more than you might think and there's too many little girls & impressionable guys wanting to be 'cool' like their emobae Sasuke to allow this to be normal. Bible, Mein Kampf, 1984, Harry Potter,- literature changes beliefs, condoning horrible things sometimes to pass it off as alluring (50 Shades of Grey, Fault in our stars etc)

Also it's fun to write pieces sometimes.

I didn't read, but nothing after Sasuke changed suggests that u are right. Therefore i declare your thread a fail :|

They didn't really have a relationship before that. It was more like Sakura and Naruto trying to run after a guy that really wanted to be left alone

Or maybe I'm a writer and this is what I do, calling out sh*tty writing when I see it.

Also pfft don't act like you're not on the anime forum too, whatever cool guy :')
