You don't know Neji but you can still have the hots for him as a secret, possibly Yandere admirer. Also, assuming you were born during/before the 3rd Great War which would have to be the result if your mother died in the war you'd be much older than Neji as the members of Naruto's generation and subsequently Neji who's only a year older, are post 3rd Great War. You'd likely be closer to Kakashi or Itachi's age.
