I'm a newcomer, and this is what I found about the RP so far:
1. Bios take quite a long time to approved. It would be somewhat fine, I am sure, if members already have bios and, thus aren't forbidden from participating in the RP. This can only be fixed by mods increasing their activity, or maybe prevent members from posting bios every month, making it 2 or 3 months before you can resubmit a bio. But for new members of the RPG, we don't have the luxury of rping with other bios, or old bios.
Suggestion: Make a separate section for 1st Bio submiters. This is for all the new rpers, old members or new members, that want to start participating. Only the very first bio can be posted here, so there shouldn't be that many people posting in this section, so mods could look at it with much more frequency. The bios are also relatively simple, they don't have much afterall, so I am sure more mods are qualified to do this particular task, not just the ones specialized in approving bios and bio rules. This could also allow one to make a different template for 1st Bios and other bios, since most people tweak the bio any way. I'll try to experience that for myself once I get to that point, but others might want to input their experiences to this particular suggestion ( Changing Template for New and Old bios )
2. There's plenty of stuff to do, though, even without a bio. I joined a village, and am getting all sorts of relationships flowing, I'm learning how to improve myself and what to do by simply talking about it with other people. I am limited to a very few sections of the RP, that do not include Trainings, Wait-Lists, Customs, Battle Arena and Ninja World, or any sort of official RP interaction, but I can still RP, since spars inside a village don't have a "Must Have an Approved Bio" rule enforced on them. I think, in this area, the RP is very well balanced. I haven't experienced training yet though. It might be useless, and if the suggestion above gets implemented, then it becomes completely irrelevant but:
Suggestion. Allow pending-approval bios to enter wait-lists. With this I mean apply for training and even get trained, despite not having an actual bio. I've seen a few training threads, and, excluding the really bad ones, the average training thread has RP down to a minimum, and it's very generic. Most trainings are for the member itself, not the character, so they RP with their personality, not their character's. If this is so, why not allow us to get training, decreasing the waiting time between having a bio and actually being able to stuff with it, at least in a Battle and Training sense, since you can just backpack across the world and meet other people after you have a bio (and I fully intend to do so). Training would give people a better place to increase their post count, without having to spam Forum Games and other sections, which is absurd and tedious to me. Which leads me to:
3. Posts don't feel earned. Sure there's the effort of actually having to post all these tedious messages, and doing it frequently enough. But they aren't meaningful to the RP, they're just numbers. I feel whenever I post in sections other than the RP, I'm just posting to increase a number, and not getting involved in the community.
Suggestion: I think, while it's all-right to keep the post count, alternative methods could also be added for something like booster-packs, where one does some sort of test or show some sort of skill, and is rewarded with certain boosts in their post count. Maybe after a really good battle, one could post the link in a thread, and a mod would rewards a certain amount of posts, which then an Admin adds mechanically to the member's post account. Reward people with meaningful numbers, instead of spam posts.
PS: I haven't experienced the Training System or the Battle System yet, so I can't suggest on those areas. But anyone feel free to complete my post or correct me in anything I might be wrong. Thanks for listening
