Good, now for some specifics about this jutsu.
Chidori Nagashi can be used in the manner you just use it and to create a current that travels across the ground to reach a target out in mid-range. Only one of these two possible uses can be done at a time, i.e if you want you hit my clone in mid range and also cover your body in the lightning current, you will have to use the jutsu twice.

Now tell me what would happen if I caused an A rank earth spike to rise from the ground with the aim of stabbing you in the chest, and you counter with Chidori current? More specifically, would the lightning destroy the rocks?

As Chidori Nagashi is 'non-focused' is doesn't have the destructive power to be able to destroy earth based techniques and as such it can only negate the chakra within the earth structure.
In this case the spikes would stop growing once they touch the Nagashi and maybe fall back into the earth.

No lightning shock him either... the lightning just moves the pillars into place!

Note the limited range of 10 meters. Short range it 0-5 meters, mid-range is 6-15 meters and long range is 16 to 30 meters and beyond.

As the lightning rotates around me, it merges with with the surrounding wind creating a vortex. Right before I launch it, I concentrate and shape the head of the vortex into the head of a dragon. I then launch the dragon head vortex towards your clone, you clone is then swallowed into the vortex. The sporadic lightning from the vortex hit the ground and near by trees*

Yep, keep it in his back as you fall to the ground, you landing on top of him with the chidori still firmly in his back.
