People manga clearly states Kankuro has surpassed Sasori.... He was already made a fool by Sasori the first time they went against each other during the first arc of Shippuden. Kankuro trained himself.. hell hes even a commander worthy now.

hashirama also stated that itachi is a better shinobi than he is .... :| but do we believe everything that is said... no because they dont always mean what we think they mean... there has been many things in the manga that has been proven wrong .. in terms of skill as a puppetier.. sasori is the better one :| you can deny it all you want but sasori had no puppets in that fight and kankuro has sasori's own body

Hashirama's own opinion on someone else. Did he say " I'm stronger then you Itachi" and Itachi was right in front of him? no. And also, Hashirama was judging Itachi from this point of view of a Shinobi:
