Nice Observation.
Hopefully This can Conclude Madara's Survival

Question tho: as many times as they fought, how come he suddenly gets caught in genjutsu now? Madara has had his sharingan or a long time now and in countless battles. It doesn't make sense for him to use it now and not during those other encounters. You can't say he didn't know he could do it because he knew about susano'o. It jus doesn't add up to me. I smell some of Kishi's plot no jutsu brewing up.

That sparkle effect appears whenever a character is surprised by something sudden. It doesn't necessarily prove Hashirama was under Genjutsu.

This guy nailed it on the head.

It could also mean that they noticed something very quickly. Not necessarily a genjutsu, but practically anything.

Not only that, Hashirama was looking at the cliff....... as if he saw somthing there.

Add one thing and I am sold. Right before Hashirama jumps down exhausted, we see Madara switching off his EMS, which is extremely odd, and we are also shown a close up of the eye. This could imply that he managed to get Hashirama under an illusion and perhaps Hasirama never speared his sword through his chest.

If we go by your logic it also means that it appears at the end of the genjutsu, right? Like in Naruto's case that at the end of the genjutsu he sees Kakashi and Itachi fighting, at the end of the supposed genjutsu, Hashirama still sees Madara's body laying on the ground. How do you explain this then?

That is a good possibility, another oddity is the sword was missing from Madara's "body" when Hashirama fell on his feet

Madara never switched EMS. He used genjutsu to hide it. Provoked clones and diverted attack via genjutsu control. The reason we dont see EMS on last panels is hashirama's perception.

dude seriously what is with you people this week!! it could not have been genjutsu since he had the scar on his chest to prove it! That is where he put the senju dna for christ sake. Scar on the chest=getting stabbed was real which means it wasnt genjutsu. If kishi turns around and that scar on madaras chest that magically looks like hashi didnt come from that stab wound it will be the biggest example of plot no jutsu in the maga to date. Face it madara lost fair and square by being tricked by a wood clone

Nice find but then the question is, if Hashirama was under a genjutsu before he was able to stab Madara, then how come Madara has wound in his chest? If Hashi was in a genjutsu then there would be no physical damage taken by Madara since it was all an illusion.

Perhaps the Genjutsu was used during the moment he was stabbed as a way to escape death, hence the wound is real

Even if Madara lost "fair and square", we do know that he survived after the battle.

The theory that he used genjutsu isn't really that bad, it does make some sense. But we will never truly know how Madara survived until Kishimoto explicitly reveals it.
