Hey, I know NB is hardly the best of places to vent personal stuff & I know you don't know me personally but....
I've been a Youtuber for 6 years now, I've made all kinda content (right now it's Anime theories & editorials) but if anybody else knows the Youtube landscape or the coding system....you know that Googletube has done everything in it's power to push out the little guy & make money off of Let's Play channels and reaction vids.
Now for the record- my goal is NOT to make money or a career from Youtube, never has been never will. I want a career in video editing and film production so this is all good practice but it's becoming evidently clear that as I approach my seventh year on the site that if I continue at the same pace with my creative freedom and as a hobby....i'm not going to be getting anywhere.
I'm proud of the content and I get very good feedback but it doesn't reflect in views, which I find myself becoming more interested in as I grow older.....as I start to look for a career. See where i'm going with this? How does my hobby slowly turn into my job? Clearly I can't rely on Youtube but does that mean I should pack it up? It's basically the most time-consuming hobby you could have and the acknowledgement/pay-off isn't worth it
Is this the beginning of reality slowly creeping in and destroying my dreams? Or something I love that should be ditched for emotional closure/job-seeking. Please help, any mature input would be great.
