being on the internet is a sin.
listening to music is a sin.

There's a difference between agreeing with a character's philosophy and idolizing one. I think you're exxagerating a little there.

I think the moon's eye plan pretty much correlates with the totalitarian elite we deal with here in the real word. Whatever you interpret in anime, it usually originates from rl sources. So, 'detached from reality'? Nope.

You say that these fans are only "agreeing" with Itachi but the fact of the matter is that they not only agree with him but they also idolize Itachi. These fans say "Wow what Itachi is saying is so cool and awesome it must be true" (agreeing is calling a statement true) and they start to think of this characters "truth" above all else. You what thats called?. . . . Reverance and that is ultimately an idol. Yowyan your trying to separate two sides of the same coin when you say that agreeing with a philosophy is not idolizing.

I don't object to religion because it helps some people move in the right direction and everyone is at different steps on the spiritual path.

Really my only problem is that the backbone of religion is control through fear. Crap like this is one of the things that's annoying. I can assure you it's not a sin against god to watch anime. I'm not going to go in depth with why but I'll say this. Your friends just don't want you too for some reason and are trying to use that as an excuse to get you to stop. It's quite silly actually and you should question if these people are really your friends.
