Oh we all know Kisame is a highly skilled shinobi but I wouldn't die by his hand nor blade.

kisame had the highest amount of chakra among all the akatsuki members. so that doesnt mean he is strong to take on a defeat a entire country by himself like sasori?

I'll see if I can find it.. if I was right but I think it was in part 1 where they were talking about Jiraiya. Kisame said Itachi can stand up to Jiraiya while he probably couldn't so he admits Itachi is the better fighter than him.. not only that but Itachi seems to be the one who gives the orders between the two.

Umm yeah because thats what I totally said right?

umm no... Itachi was the one talking about Jiraiya.... lmao. Both take the orders from Pain. =] . Itachi simply knows how to handle Kisame.

Please don't pull things out of your arse. Pain is irrelevant to this so I don't know why you bother bringing him up.

Genjutsu/drunkendream sword = k.o
But that's besides the point

Kisame is a beast like everyone already pointed out he's top 4 akatsuki but its established itachi is the boss or superior

Kisame almost outright stated that Itachi is a tier above him and he is no match for him..

Where? Lol

Check first page, people already posted scans...

Kisame states he doesn't believe he can take on "Jiraya", he's out of his league.. then goes on to tell Itachi that he might have a chance.. that alone means Kisame believes that Itachi is on a different tier to him...

Not to mention when Jiraya appears and they are fleeing, Kisame turns and asks Itachi why is retreat necessary for HIM

Kisame said Jiraiya is out of his league back in part one, but feats say otherwise.. It's all about match-ups, and Kisame is fully capable of fighting on par with Itachi, despite Itachi being the superior.

And Itachi doesn't end him with 1 Tsukyomi?

Kisame didn't know Jiraya, he was going off of reputation... And by reputation, he saw himself grossly inferior to the man.. He then states that Itachi might be able to take him...

This isn't about feats and matchups... this is Kisame saying , "hey, you're stronger than me, you can take him right?"

Ofc Kisame can "Fight on par with Itachi" It won't be a stomp.. but it also won't be a long fight..

I'm currently on my phone and incapable of supplying manga scans, but Kisame understands how Itachi's visual genjutsu works, and knows not to look into his eyes. But in any case, It's not far-fetched to say Kisame will be able to withstand the physical and mental trauma caused by Tsukiyomi; given his mental stability and will-power.

Alot of people understand how visual genjutsu works and STILL made eye contact in this manga...How does that prove that Kisame will? that he has training in eye contact less kenjutsu? Isn't kisame like .5 intelligence higher than naruto? there are Many smarter people who still make eye contact..

It is far fetched... and ridiculous imo, If 3 days was enough to put a grown man like Kakashi out cold for the unforeseeable future, Regardless of how much will Kisame has, Itachi would need only raise the amount of torture to suit it

You give Kisame so much praise when he himself thought that no one could survive Tsukyomi's torture....

I think Kisame could win if he gets Water Dome up, but the chances of that happening are slim to none.

"Why is it a nessecary retreat for you..." MAybe because Itachi was the one running away... So it is a simple question, why it nessecary for him? Did Kisame talk about him having a hard time? no...

Still quite different in Kisames case. He has witnessed multiple times of the means Itachi takes in drawing eye contact with his opponent, unlike Kakashi who initially thought could break through it, Bee who seemed to have no idea, and so on. Kisame is no idiot either. He was able to deduce Bee's tactics within a split second, and counter accordingly. He can also deploy Mizu Bunshins to make it a lot less likely of getting hit by it, as Kakashi did. And I don't believe Kisames approach to Itachi with a MS activated would be to engage him CQC, considering he fully knows first hand of Itachis lethality.

Well, Kisame undoubtedly can withstand more mental and physical trama then Kakashi, considering he was willing to bite off his toungue and feed himself to sharks in sake of intel; as well as breaking out of a chakra suppressing wooden restraint despite being physically worned out, but I suppose raising the amount of torture is something itachi COULD do..

Then that only makes it more feesible that Kisame would go straight for his trump card, that being the Water Dome, which Itachi has no counter for.

Kisame is getting a tad overrated... He is capable f fighting Itachi on equals terms; but he loses six out of ten times thanks to either a Tsukiyomi slowing him down severely or Itachi's infamous subtle genjutsu catching Kisame off guard durin the fight.

I don't really see a big difference here, there's quite a few that know eye contact must be avoided, but what are they going to do about it? Minato believed Tobi to be Madara, but seemingly took no precautions to look away. Raikage got caught in Madara's jutsu as well, even after his fight with Sasuke. What I'm trying to say is, possessing knowledge of not to look in an Uchiha's eyes, and possessing empirical knowledge doesn't account for much of a difference in the actual ability/intelligence for being able to avoid it. Also, if my memory is correct, Itachi put Orochimaru in a paralysis genjutsu with his eyes without even looking at him. Furthermore, Itachi has finger jutsu (as funny as it sounds).

Kisame is no idiot either. He was able to deduce Bee's tactics within a split second, and counter accordingly.

If I am correct, you are alluding to the possibility that Kisame will somehow counter Itachi's genjutsu. To be fair, unless you just want to be absolutely illogical (which you don't seem like the type), Itachi is also very smart and analytical as well. Furthermore, Kisame once said something along the lines of "I'm the best in akaktsui for capturing Bijuu alive." Considering he said this while merging with Samehada and shortly after using WD (again, if my memory is correct), this heavily suggest he uses this method to capture them alive. This also greatly implies that Itachi has seen him use such a tech. In short, he would 'somehow' know how to counter it. At the very least, Itachi would spur into action as fast as he can, and 'action' can take many roles here.

He can also deploy Mizu Bunshins to make it a lot less likely of getting hit by it, as Kakashi did.

Good point, I'll give you this. Though it always bothered me how the sharingan can actually see chakra levels (the users noting when someone chakra is almost empty), but can't tell the clones apart, which has only 1/10 of the users chakra. Oh well, it's Kishi's manga lol.

And I don't believe Kisames approach to Itachi with a MS activated would be to engage him CQC, considering he fully knows first hand of Itachis lethality.

True, but we also cannot underestimate Itachi's speed with handsigns. It's tricky, because this match-up greatly depends on starting distance. If close, then it's unfairly in Itachi's favor. If far, then it's unfairly in Kisame's favor. Though to be fair, most match-ups within the manga usually start close.

Nice point, but 3 days of torture in one second? Whew...

Then that only makes it more feesible that Kisame would go straight for his trump card, that being the Water Dome, which Itachi has no counter for.

Kisame defintely has his chances, no doubt about that. However, I believe Itachi is the favorite to win. We also can't ignore their portrayal, which is ironically what this thread is about. Also, this is a man that miracously made a clone in the middle of shuriken fight, this is a maneuver which the greatness thereof can only be grasped upon actually thinking about it.

1. How many shuriken were flying?

2. When in the hell did Itachi actually have time to match Sasuke shuriken for shuriken (and most likely was throwing shuriken not only to block Sasuke's, but threw some offensives ones as well) and still have time to make a clone?

3. Sasuke's sharingan didn't even see it?

I think many people just be like "Yeaahhh, so he's pretty fast with handsigns." They don't fully grasp the depth of that feat.

Kisame has alluded to Itachi's superiority on several occasions during the Manga. This is but one instance:

Furthermore, throughout Itachi and Kisame's invasion of Konoha, the former was subjugating the latter entirely; instructing him when to attack; who to attack; and precisely when to retreat. Are you ignoring Itachi and Kisame's portrayal? Or, merely interpreting it subjectively, relative to this thread's purpose?

This exactly^ Kisame should not be underestimated, however he already recognizes itachi as the stronger member in the team...

o-o. You overrate him. V_V.

Kisame can just hide and spam water jutsus over and make a sneak attack. There are so many ways. In the end, Kisame is good where Itachi is not.. and vice-versa.
