I can't really remember this but i believe in the manga one charecter even states that Hashi was the strongest since SO6P. I might be wrong (probally am) so don't flame me if thats false. I know someone called him the best shinobi of his era tho.

Madara, Tobi and Kabuto all said he was the best during his time. Strangely enough, all three could beat him now.

Most likely. Petra path can absorb any ninjutsu, so if the woods created by chakra it's getting asorbed just like Jiriya's oil.

But his woods are neither consist out of Chakra nor fitted with it. This is rather explained in the third databook.

Correct me if i'm wrong, but he combines two elements to create wood from his chakra. Not manipulation like Gaara does with sand.

Jiriya's oil doesn't consist with chakra, but it's oil created from chakra and it's still able to be absorbed.

The oil is a form of Chakra, the wood not. Yes, Hashirama is combining two elements in order to use it, but it doesn't satisfy the condition to be absorbed. The Databook explains, that Hashirama in fact creates real trees by sending Chakra into the ground. The control and the growth of the trees happen in their roots which are converted in a source of life. The trees are real and not fitted with Chakra, all the Chakra is in the woods roots from there Hashirama is controlling them. And since the trees are not a form of Chakra, they cannot be absorbed. All explained well in the databook.
