Re: Genjutsu with Adachi

"You piece of..." Shin made two hand seals which was followed a sudden blow dealt to your face. You saw nothing, you only felt as though you were punched with a great force between your eyes just on the bridge of your nose, inducing a momentary reaction that made you step back "Did you see that?!"

Genjutsu: Senkyoushi | Illusionary Arts: Missionary
Type: Defensive/Supplementary
Rank: B-Rank
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra: 20
Damage: N/A (40 if done with hand seals)
Description:
The user will induce a simple but precise and useful illusion onto the enemy making him feel a blow was just delivered to the back of his knees. As a reflexive response, in reality his legs lose strength and the enemy falls on his knees immediately. While quite simple, the technique serves many purposes and leaves the enemy vulnerable. The technique can target other areas and deliver similar blows to induce other similar reflexive actions. If the user does 2 handseals (boar+rat) he can cause the enemy to experience pain and even target the enemy's neck from behind, making the enemy experience severe pain and loss of limb control for a few moments, collapsing to the ground as if a precise blow was given to a nervous cluster in the neck. Off course in reality, no damage is done but the body is fooled into reacting in a reflexive manner to the illusionary blows.

Shin sighed, "Guess I'll have to explain things to you from here on. At least once in your life I can almost guarantee you'll find yourself crossing paths with an Uchiha. While I myself do not know any sound techniques and therefore cannot teach them to you, I know of other techniques that work in a very similar manner. The key detail I was looking for is that; the Sharingan cannot pierce through Sound induced genjutsu, nor techniques like the one I just used on you for example. Why is that? the sound induced medium transcends the boundaries of visionary induced illusions that the Uchiha's advanced sense of sight and perception. You had it...sorta right, you cant see past something that isn't visual or affects your visual stimuli. Other genjutsu like tactile ones that only affect one sense, cannot be pierced with the Sharingan either. Things that affect only hearing, or anything other than vision. Hell, I think I already said this earlier, that should've been a hint. Anyway, do you get where I'm coming from? To find an Uchiha with genjutsu, use genjutsu they cannot see."

Re: Genjutsu with Adachi

"Well, just specifically senses. In order to capture your opponent you must be aware of their location meaning you have to have some mode of sensing. This can be anything from seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling, hell even tasting. There are other means through sensory based techniques or dojutsu and what not. However, when it comes to using any of the other five basic senses other than plainly seeing your opponent, you would have to have such enhanced senses that it allows you to give pinpoint accuracy of their location and confirmation that they are there. Hearing vaugly or catching the general location of the scent of their perfume doesn't give you confirmation.

The reason this is, is because you are using precise chakra control to project your chakra into the network of your opponent. If you don't know where they are, how can you do this? There are some exceptions with higher grade genjutsu, however I'm not at liberty to divulge such skills to you at your current level. However, I will say that there are mediums for genjutsu that capture the enviornment and allow people to cast genjutsu on people they don't even know their location. It's rare and requires a lot of skill and shows the tenants of true master. But for all general purposes of simply learning this skill, making sure you are able to sense your opponent is the No. 1 most important condition for casting an illusion. There are other conditions such as chakra control, technique specific restrictions, hand signs, etc, but they all become pointless if you dont' know where you're attacking.

This is also a good thing to consider when avoiding being caught in a genjutsu. We talked about breaking genjutsu, however in terms of defending against genjutsu there is no better way to defeat a genjutsu user than to prevent them from being able to cast their illusions in the first place. This comes with a draw back as, in many cases if you cut off modes of sensory for your opponent to yourself, you do the same to yourself against your opponent. Considering this, if you know you're fighting a strong genjutsu user find ways to fight without necessarily using your senses or rely on advanced senses you have. Develop other means of detecting your opponent as there is nothing more dangerous than fighting blind."

Re: Genjutsu with Adachi

Ithnan stands by, listening intently to all that his sensei has to say. Though the speech is quite longwinded, he knows that the information recounted will be of substantial use later on in his ninja career and so, jots it all down on a blank section of the scroll he keeps for his puppet storage. It is only after Ithnan is sure his sensei has concluded that he finally replies.

"Oh my.. that's a lot of information sensei, but I think I've got it all."

Re: Genjutsu with Adachi

"Good, good, now then we can get to the last step of the pre-training; layering. Now that we've covered what conditions you need for casting genjutsu ordinarily now we'll get into the advanced concepts of multi layered genjutsu.

First and foremost we know that genjutsu layering is the casting of several illusions (At least 2) on your target(s). What is the purpose you may ask? Simply put in order to overwhelm your opponent and to cover the draw backs of one illusion by enhancing it with another illusion that takes care of those flaws. For example;

you cast one illusion that causes your opponent to sink in quicksand. this leaves them room to discover that they are under a genjutsu and use genjutsu kai with their free hands. So, in order to prevent that, you cast another genjutsu on top of that quicksand illusion that binds your opponents arms, which prevents them from weaving hand seals to cast kai or stab themselves with kunai to break out of the illusion.

That's just a hypothetical of course, but it gets the point across. Now then do you know anything about the conditions and restrictions of layering a genjutsu?"

Re: Genjutsu with Adachi

Once again, Ithnan finds himself being overloaded with information, but he does his best to take it in stride. First taking a moment to make sure that he'd jotted down all of sensei's key points, he then contemplates the question posed to him.

"I'd imagine that the genjutsu used should be the stronger one first, followed by the weaker one. Also, it'd be important that the illusions meant to be perceived by the given target do not conflict with one another. For example, a complete darkness and a brilliant light, since their illusionary intentions would be remarkably contradictory to one another.."

Re: Genjutsu with Adachi

"Correct correct" Shin said happily

"Cast the stronger first and make sure the techniques don't conflict. Those are the only two rules when layering genjutsu. If you layer a stronger illusion over a weaker one, the chakra from the previously cast illusion will be overloaded and that illusion will disperse and be replaced with the stronger, where as if you cast a stronger one, it can house a weaker or equally as strong illusion beside it.

If two techniques conflict with each other, they will cancel each other out or the stronger of the two will take president, simple as that. Do you have concerning anything about layering or anything else we've covered?"

Re: Genjutsu with Adachi

"Alright, now we'll dive into the techniques, which I'm sure is what you've been waiting for this entire time right?

Nevertheless here's how we'll go about them, The major food groups are:

Genjutsu Kai
Paralysis/Restriction Techniques
Deception Techniques
Concealing Techniques
Hypnotic Techniques

Before anything, you need to learn how to break genjutsu, once that's done, you'll learn how to cast them. So we're going to start there. You already explained to me how you use genjutsu release. Soooooo."

Shin makes a single hand seal which creates dozens of clones of him appearing from the ground, surrounding you. They all held kunai in their hands and smirked devilishly at you.

( Kasumi Jūsha no Jutsu ) - Mist Servant Technique
Rank: D
Type: Supplementary
Range: Short-Mid
Chakra Cost:10
Damage Points: N/A
Description: This illusion creates numerous illusionary clones of the user that appear to emerge from the ground, trees, rocks, etc. If these clones are attacked, they appear to multiply. The user can co-ordinate his attacks with the clones to make it appear as if they are real.

"Apply it." all the voices of the clones echoed. All the clones threw kunai at you simultaneously, however only one was real, the one heading straight for your throat, parallel to the ground. With the illusion set in place however, you'd know not of the real weapon until the illusion was broken. Should you fail, it's safe to say your life would cease.

Re: Genjutsu with Adachi

Having listened to his sensei, Ithnan understood what was required of him. Without hesitation, he makes a single hand-seal and abruptly halts the flow of his chakra before quickly spiking his spiritual energy, which unbalances his chakra and dispels the illusion he'd been placed under. All but one of the clones that had been encircled around him immediately disappeared, revealing one tangible opponent and a kunai coming right at him, which he is able to avoid just in time. With no immediate threat perceivable, Ithnan then reaches for a kunai in his ninja tool pouch and deftly flings it at the clone.

As you break the illusion and avoid the kunai, Shin notices you take out a kunai of your own. He raises his brow and then sees you throw the kunai toward him. As you did, he gave you a disapproving scowl. He grabbed the handle of the kunai nonchalantly as it came toward him but he didn't change his expression.

"-_- you retard why the hell are you throwing shit at me?"

Re: Genjutsu with Adachi

Listening to a very irked sensei, Ithnan only then realizes that what he thought was a tangible clone was really sensei!

"S-Sorry, I thought you were a clone. You can't be too surprised; things get confusing when kunai are everywhere." -_-

Re: Genjutsu with Adachi

"If that's all it takes to confuse you, just kill yourself now, save a real ninja the trouble" Shin said coldly...

"Anyway, now that you can free yourself via that method we can move on. Over time as you become stronger and hone your skills you'll be able to use Kai on stronger techniques, however it's not my job to make you practice that over and over again; I only teach the techniques.

Now then, the first method is relatively simple and self explanatory. Paralysis and restriction techniques are techniques that hinder the movement of your opponents in some way, shape or form, or just completely paralyzes them. There is a particular emphasis on the tactile sense and creating false sensations of pain or restriction through feelings of physical restriction. It's pretty basic. Now then I want you to give me two or three techniques, based on their description, that would fall under this category. Look through some of these scrolls"

"Splendid! I just so happen to have a list with a description of all mainstream genjutsu techniques. 1..2..3.. All here!"

Ithnan points to three techniques in particular on the list he had, showing it to sensei.

Illusion Technique String Bean Binding Illusion
Demonic Illusion: Tree Binding Death
Illusion Technique: Crushing Snake Constriction

"Good, looks like you have some sense. Now then the next two methods aren't as self explanatory therefore I'll make you explain them to me. Define the other two methods; what traits/characteristics they exploit, what they're used for, and then give me two or so techniques for each method."

Re: Genjutsu with Adachi

"What do mean they aren't as self-explanatory? Deception illusions are pretty simple; they make it seem as if something is present, when it is nothing more than a mere illusion. For example, I could make it seem like a dragon has appeared out of nowhere to attack you, when that's not actually the case. Of course, there doesn't happen to be any real limitations on what one attempts to deceive the target with. Concealing techniques are also fairly obvious, as their primary purpose is to mask someone or something's presence. One can make it nigh impossible for someone to pinpoint their location, if say, it seems as if the target is surrounded by total darkness. One can even conceal changes to the terrain.."
Ithan points out several more techniques on the list:

Deception Techniques
( Kori Shinchū no Jutsu ) - Sly Mind Affect Technique
( Genjutsu: Jigoku Gouka ) - Illusion Technique: Hell Fire
(Magen: Nijū Kokoni Arazu no Jutsu) Demonic Illusion: Double False Surroundings Technique

Concealing Techniques
( Kokuangyo no Jutsu ) - Bringer-of-Darkness Technique
( Shinkirō no Jutsu ) - Mirage Technique

Re: Genjutsu with Adachi

"You'd be surprised at the people who don't understand these things. While all genjutsu deceives you in some way shape or form, this specific method is as you said. As well, the concealing techniques are as you've said as well. When you get into the realm of creating your own techniques it'll be good to create techniques that try to encompass all fields; restrictive, deception, concealing, etc.

However there is something I want to explain to you first before we continue and it has to do with the visual prowess of the Uchiha. When using genjutsu of this caliber, this being the level at which I teach you. You'll want to careful of how you use them. The Uchiha have the ability to pierce through nearly every technique I am going to teach you with the exception of the higher ranked ones. Even still though, powerful Uchiha who've obtained the level of Mangekyou Sharingan will not be fooled by any of these illusions with the exception of one technique in this arsenal which I will explain to you later.

In short, if you're in a bout with an Uchiha and you've not ascended your level of genjutsu and created your own techniques, abandon the style as a means of combat and worry about avoiding their illusions while attacking their eyes. This should already be a given, however repetition is the mother of memory."
