Really everyone should workout often it's healthy. Obese or not, you feel better as well mentally and physically once you get use to it. All through mankind it's proven valid.

Doesn't even have to be crucial body builder workouts. Just like a jog or push ups, sit ups, bike riding, etc. Keeps you in good vibes.

Fat people piss me off. I just had dinner at a friend's place and his mum has a visitor over which is an obese woman. I got repulsed when I saw her belly pop out her shirt.

They could be happy all they want but illness associated with obesity is nothing to be happy about U_U

Weight really has nothing to do with health. There may be a positive correlation, but that does not mean they are causal. A strong case in point are those who abuse substances. Most of the ones I see in my practice are thin, but they have HTN, Hyperlipidemia, Diabetes Type II, Vitamin K deficiencies, COPD, Hepatitis C, elevated ALT/ASTs, etc. People misconstrue the causation of weight and health because of social programming.

I agree. Obesity isn't something to be proud of it is a health problem. However the best way to tell people dealing with obesity or weight or any health problems is to encourage them to change because the outcome will benefit them emotionally and physically and even spiritually for those who are. Telling them they are fat or obese and gross would only make them discourage and hate themselves.

In other cases; harsh criticism may be the best trigger for an obese individual to make a change in his/her lifestyle.
I was a little chubby until my 15th and self-hate only assisted me to stop being a conformist (in that sense) and make a change. I think real motivation comes after harsh confrontation.

Confrontation is good, it facilitates change, but abuse is emotionally crippling. Most research finds that you cannot successfully shame someone into being thin (not including eating disorders). Most cases the person just adapts a low self esteem, increased depression, and some unhealthy coping mechanism (i.e., overeating.). It's great that you took control of your weight and improved your self-image. A lot of people don't have that willpower, especially in the face of emotional abuse.

In my opinion and experience; people around me including sensitive girls got to where they are, physically toned, because of the fat shaming they went through. People that lack that will power you spoke of, just play the 'self-pity' card too much. Again; imo.
I'm not talking about bullying though. I'm talking about subtle hints to your obesity and disgusted glances that sting like a bee.
I would never justify an obese individual being bullied and I never show any hint of disgust when I'm in the presence of them as I don't think I'm qualified to do so. (because I'm not close to said individuals)

But just being told you're fat without any aggression or disgust in their tone isn't emotional abuse
