Much better.

To be fair the stakes are huge. Kishi has given us an open unhappy ending. The fact that not only we have the original main villain outlasting our protagonists but also the cycle of peace/Ninshuu threatened.

I like your theory, and Orochimaru is one of my favorite characters for sure. I can totally see him being so patient to just wait for his hour... it makes much more sense than him suddenly having a change of soul, given his age and intelligence.
Yeah, probably.

I was never a fan of Orochimaru until after he came back at the end. No idea why that changed. But seeing him in Gaiden & seeing that his scientific curiosity & progresson for immortality hasn't changed was cool. As soon as they mentioned Shin being a possible Oro experiment I almost flipped.

I hated Shin being his, I wanted the Ootsutsuki explained at the time- but honestly the real current Oro threat is Mitsuki. Whether he knows it or not.

Well, I always liked him, and ever since Itachi sealed him the manga started to lose it's colors for me. Not sure if it was the reason or just a coincidence, but I loved this manga much more back when Orochimaru was still alive prior to Sasuke vs Itachi. It kinda felt like a bit different manga than what we had afterwards. And his comeback surely made some refreshing to say the least.

I've never been huge on him, more of a Kabuto guy myself but damn. Now I see why Orochimaru did nothing but pity my fav. He wasn't jealous of the power he had accumulated or angry/concerned- just pitied the guy. Kabuto was much more desperate and loud than his master. Declaring war is hardly discrete and his motivation to become a Sage right off the bat was his undoing.

Orochimaru must've looked down on him, all that power, all that time I thought Kabuto had 'surpassed' Oro and in the end it means nothing. Orochimaru was out of the picture for SO long of Shippuden, like jesus. And his departure and reintroduction to the series were so quietly discrete that it never made us panic when he still turned out to be alive after all this time, in that way Kishi is having Orochimaru is out-slying the audience too.

Indeed. The sole fact that many people supported the theory of him being the real final villan says a lot. He may not be the most powerful one, but he certainly is one of the wisest out there. His intelligence is very underrated IMO.

So you mean that mentality that Naruto beat out of him? If Sasuke is going to remain 'invincible' then by that logic he's also still going to kill all the world leaders.

When in fact I remember he got along with them quite nicely, working alongside them and all.

As little kids? Interesting. Orochimaru is constantly getting stronger and smarter.

There is always a weak generation. Naruto & Sasuke are a golden age. Look at the Sand Village, Oro knew that the Fourth's reign was the time to snatch control because him and his followers could easily assassinate the current Kage and the rest of the village's main forces were old (Chiyo & Bunpuku) Dead (3rd Raikage & Pakura) or controllable.

He's done it before and can do it again. Strike inbetween generations, before the Bolt and Saradas of next generation or the one beyond that can fully develop.

Itachi is a bit of an outlier higher-tier ninja who actively sought to take Oro out.

There was a snake straggler after he was sealed by Totsuka, he exists within any of his many curse marks and he didn't seem surprised to be back in the world of the living. Itachi surprised him, but didn't shake his confidence or his motive. Plus just bc he DID temporarily get defeated doesn't mean his motivation wasn't there all along.

nah, Oro is in check
he tries some shit the new gen will low-diff him
dude admitted 4-Tails could low-diff him and even got neg-diffed by a 3 Tomoe, come on now :l

by the time Sasuke and Naruto get old they'll still be strong and probably even more powerful + wiser
and the new gen will have developed which means that Bolt, Chocho, Salad, the new 8-Tails Jin, and even that Suna dude with the Iron Sand Gucci Jacket will all be in their Prime ready to turn that man into Snake Skin ninja sandals

Oro is not sitting around doing nothing, he's learning a lot and expanding his jutsu like Numbers said. When he decides to make his move, he'll probably already have evaluated the leaf ninja, in order to make sure he wins.

The guy didn't have his arms against 4 Tails dude, cmon. The fact that he had access to stuff like Edo Tensei masks and just never needed to use/display them speaks volumes. And i'm not talking like, 10 years long. Orochimaru is 100 YEARS. OLD. NOW. Guy can wait another 100 years, he's the most patient character in the series and much like BZ, has generations to sit back and plan/pick a moment.

Look what happened the one time he DID take action. If circumstances had been ever so slightly in his favour, Oro would've invaded the Leaf Village. It was down to not bringing Kabuto, Manda, his 8 Tailed Serpent and Kimimaro to the invasion. He's a prideful man who with his huge expansive moveset has never gone fully all-out, that pride also led to his defeat as he largely sat back and watched Hiruzen toy with the primitive Edo Tenseis of Hashi/Tobirama. Add Hiruzen, Minato and god knows who else he has now and that's just one example of strength over time.

The Leaf in early Part 1 was FAR from it's golden age in my opinion. No Minato, old Hiruzen and the next generation being incredibly young? Oro completely wrecked & manipulated the Sand by waiting for his moment to strike and he'll do the same again.

Hell, maybe he'll have Naruto and Sasuke added to that list as Oro slowly perfects the Jutsu like Kabuto did a decent job of in just a couple of months. What's stopping him from doing that with all his powers and intellect in general?

The Boruto kids killing him is a tad ridiculous. And just because he isn't there yet doesn't mean it's not his goal.

Right?!

I've never really been a huge fan of his (sound4+kabuto's my style) but the fact Kishi has left us on an open unhappy ending is so fun!

Took it down from the inside. Assassinated the Kazekage and became him? Um....Oro owned the Sand Village man. Only because they were at their weakest but THAT'S THE POINT HERE.

You make it sound as if i'm trying to suggest some kind of matchup from Oro at his possible weakest in the show...when he didn't use any of his cool sh*t or followers. Mate, HINATA could get NV-busting godly potential if she had an immortal's time. Give the most resourceful character in the show eternity? That's terrifying. I don't really think you got the point of the thread.

At least: Has a large followship and all of his currently shown feats, which managed to infiltrate and destroy the vulnerable Sand.

At most: Perfected all his jutsu incl. Edo Tensei & Collected Edos of the Kage / Significant ninja / Edo Naruto or Sasuke

By saying he didn't have his arms, it meant he had no access to handseals and all the techniques related to that. He didn't have his arms, and he wasn't afraid, he merely acknowledged the attack's power. At the end of the fight (if you actually read it), he expressed his discontent because he couldn't finish the battle. Why you ask? For one, he didn't have his "arms", two, his body started to reject him, forcing him into a bed-written state.

Now, for your statement regarding the Leaf, take a gander. For the majority of the fight with Hiruzen, he refused to physically involved, instead he wanted to break down his former master mentally by forcing to fight his former teachers. This means, for one, he didn't showcaze the things he could've, like Eight Branches. Had he went on the complete offensive from the beginning, Konoha would've perished.
