You act like you know my opinion on Rebecca and you are letting it influence your thoughts on my opinion. It took 20 pages not one chapter. One chapter is like 14-16 pages. And if was all in one chapter it wouldn't be so bad either, but it wasnt and thus broke the flow. If kyros cant talk to her face to face, then have her sneak out of the palace with violas help, why involve luffy at all. In either case it didnt feel genuine to me anyway so i suggested a way to make it better to me lol thats all there is to this, let me have an opinion jeez
And you act like you know how I know your opinion on Rebecca and let it influence my thoughts.
The only thing I in fact explained was simply the overall character development of Kyros and Rebecca to point out that this chapter was not something that just popped up out of the blue, but was in fact a running theme throughout the entire Dressrosa arc that now received closure. I merely added to that replies to comments you made that are not correct or redundant like saying that Oda just made a problem up, which is not true, or that he could have done it in a few pages, which would simply be bad writing.
To finish I also added a global remark about how many people in this thread seem to be displeased about this chapter, but that that is largely because they do not like Rebecca. When Law's character received some serious development, many people were ecstatic about it. So in the end the value of this chapter depends on how much you value Rebecca. I left out in the open to who this all applies, I never said that you specifically fall under that category, that's something you assumed yourself, so you're doing what you just said I was supposed to be doing. That becomes quite obvious by the fact you are nitpicking on what should be considered one chapter or one and a half chapter on a series that consists out of nearly 800 chapters. This is just absurd.
It didn't broke the flow, it picked up a flow that has been flowing throughout the entire arc and now provided closure for it. The situation you describe is a situation that would lack any genuine feelings and would go against the personalities of Luffy, Kyros and Rebecca. The only thoughts I pretend to somewhat know are those of the involved characters:
Kyros: Extremely insecure about Rebecca, blames himself for everything and could never say to her face that he would leave her for good. That became extremely obvious this chapter when they meat each other eventually. So instead he left a not and spread a rumor as he knew the identity of her father could potentially be an issue, which was not an entirely baseless notion.
Rebecca: An innocent, gentle and bit of a timid and emotional girl that got brutally thrown into a fighting arena and who lost the memory of her father for 10 years. She had been living her entire life in small houses and the arena. Then suddenly the memory of he father comes back, her entire life is thrown upside down and she becomes the queen in waiting of a country that till recently was spitting her out while living in a castle. This is to say the least highly confusing for a girl like her that by default does not have an assertive personality.
Luffy: A rather simple person, but as a result has the uncanny ability to see whenever people are seriously troubled and can provide often the most simplistic of solutions.
Luffy sensed that this situation between Kyros and Rebecca was full of doubts. So he simply went asking if Rebecca was ok with this. Now being so pushed by Luffy, she now admitted she wasn't under pressure and then you had the practical issue of crossing the distance before Kyros left. Luffy then brought Kyros and Rebecca together and left the rest to them. He did something extremely similar during the Alabasta arc where Vivi was conflicted about whether she should stay princess or a pirate. Luffy did not physically moved her, but he did push her to confront them for a last time to make sure she would not have any regrets and for that he made her cross an entire desert on the day she was supposed to shown to the people. Vivi chose to be a princess, Rebecca to live with her father. Both of them had to make a choice and where they were doubting, both of them got pushed by Luffy into a confrontation to make sure they would not have any regrets regardless of the situation.
