Itachi fights with genjutsu, he doesn't even have to move to fight people. If by a stroke of luck he can trap him in tsukuyomi, jiraiya wont only lose the battle, he'd die.

with that being said, jiraiya was one of the most smartest shinoboi's around, he could fight blind if he wanted to. He doesn't have genjutsu but he has a basic means of which to counter it, so if itachi had to use basic genjutsu (like Ephemeral, which he only needs to point his finger) then jiraiya could easily escape.

Fanboy is a fanboy be it Itachi, Minato, Nagato, Jiraiya, Sasuke, or etc they all will come in to defend their fav char. Itachi is mentioned in almost every VS thread reason of his popularity.
