Not really. Without Madara, he would have started infinite tsukuyomi since the beginning. He already had Gyuki's chakra thanks to Sasuke and Kyubi's chakra thanks to Kin-Gin, so he could have summoned Juubi anytime he wanted without even fighting Naruto and Bee and put the world in infinite tsukuyomi. The only reason he wanted to fight Naruto and co is because he wanted to revive a complete Juubi

Ahem. Aren't you forgetting something? He got the kyubi's chakra from the Kin-Gin bros who were Kabuto's edos. Without that he wouldnt have the juubi.

The entire purpose of the war was to capture the 8 and 9 tails. I don't see him thinking I need to wipe out the 5 nations in war. It's chess, he's giving up his pawns for the bigger picture. There were enough zetsu's out there to spring some sort of trap.

Obito would not have had the Kyuubi's chakra without Kabuto summoning the Kin-Gin brothers. It would have just been Obito, Gedo Mazo, and the zetsus vs the 5 nations. Naruto would not have sensed the 9 tails chakra from the brothers, which lead him to find out about the war, so Naruto and Bee would have stayed safe within the barrier.

It can be argued that Obito could just revive Madara, but if he could do that than what was stopping nagato from reviving Yahiko. And don't tell me that it is because he thought it would be immoral or something like that. He animated his corpse by shoving chakra receiving rods into his body.

YES. however it seems to me like you're all forgetting wht this war was all about. It wasn't to win, but as a distraction to obtain the kyuubi and hachibi's chakra and awaken the juubi, ressurect Madara and make him do his thing. Although what seems to have happened is that Obito under-estimated Naruto as well as Bee.

If Madara solo'd 5 Kages, Obito can at least try to stand up to it. He won't wtfpwn them like Madara did but he'll be able to mess them up at the very least.
