Why did he do it?
I don't understand his strategy. I mean if everything was so planned out by Madara and the Kyuubi was a big part of that plan then why risk losing his biggest piece in the board? Did he do it out of spite? I'm pretty sure Madara did not tell him to attack the Leaf and much less with the Kyuubi. At least with another demon just in case things went badly. The way I see it is that he placed all his chips in the table to destroy the Leaf. In doing so he disobeyed a direct order from Madara in the worst way. Meaning he doesn't follow Madara like some brainwashed fanboy. Even now that their fighting the shinobi world he could decide to do something differently and cost them the war.
