This jutsu is used in battle to inflict heavy damage upon the enemy. It can cut of limbs or pierce the enemy quite easily. It can also be used to send them flying. Straight forward technique.
To counter, I would create earth pillars to get in the way of the shuriken or use a wind technique to blow it back, though it would take a decent sized wave of wind to blow an oversized demon wind shuriken back.
Advantages- The demon wind shuriken is already big, and made much larger, it would be harder to dodge. This can inflict a lethal amount of damage in one shot if it hits. The jutsu can also send the opponent flying, which means the jutsu can also create an opening.
Disadvantages- It, when enlarged, is much easier to see and hear coming. That being said, despite being enlarged and cover more area and being harder to dodge, it is also easier to dodge in that sense.
My opinion of this technique is that it is pretty simple, but good none the less. Depending on when you enlarge the shuriken determines much of the usefulness I believe. It's a solid D Rank.
This jutsu is used to inflict the piercing damage of Kunai upon the enemy.
To counter, I would either react by throwing just as many Kunai, or using a wind technique to blow them back at the enemy.
Advantages- Well, the more Kunai, the harder it is to counter them all, I guess.
Disadvantages- Can easily be countered with free form.
My opinion of this technique is that, as you stated, is kind of pointless, considering it can be done free form.
