Picture this... The 4th Great Ninja War is over.
During the battle Tsunade has fallen, and the Leaf is in need of a new Hokage.
Naruto has said he is not ready to be Hokage, after seeing the war, so he turns it down.
During the battle, Kakashi has also fallen.
( I'm only saying this to rule Kakashi out of the available choices. This is because nearly everyone, myself included, would pick Kakashi as the next Hokage, and I want to see some variety in this thread. )

Let me know who you think would make a good choice for a new Hokage and why...

Hinata's dad or Shikaku or Yamato would be the best choices. Gai is just way too much of a fool to be the Hokage.

Shikaku would likely be the best candidate, but it doesn't suit his personality. The Hokage has to be a charismatic leader, but Shikaku is more of an 'in the shadows' type of guy.

I don't think Gai would represent Konoha well from a political standpoint >_>

yea its great that you have a really smartass leader! but it can not be shikamaru or his father, they're not strong enough to take that position of the strongest ninja in the village! they are only great for an assistant or a high elder or fuedal lord!

You dont exactly need to be 'The Strongest Ninja' in the village. It's more like just picking the better person for the job but that does not entitle that person to be even strong at all.

Besides that taking into exception a handfull of people in Naruto that are a 'Genius and super powerful' then you cant really put alot of people into the position of Hockage.

Also Hockages almost always are with some bodyguards that help them around and stay with them almost all day. ( Tsunade and Shizune and Tonton lol)

So lets imagine that either Shikaku or Gai are Hockages, its not like they are going to be taking decisions on their own. They will be aided by bodyguards.

Picture Gai sitting down as a hockage and he receives some paperwork with assignments for ninjas, and he says *·$·$%·$&&$ I'm not gonna do this and so his bodyguard in this case is Shikaku can do all the paperwork or something lol.

While Gai simply does what he is best at, and that is fighting. ( He can probably kill almost any Konoha member if he wanted, that just to point out how strong he is.)

that is such a shikamaru answer XD but i totally agree,
as for who i'd pick, probably shikaku or yamato, best fit, i wouldn't want a hokage that ran around screaming about being young and stuff like that >.>
