To stay on topic, I think the "I told you so" thread moderating method is good. Everything else has been said, so sorry if you want an explanation on my part; for why it is good. However, I just read Mugi's latest post and I believe there are ways to fix that. Of course, they are going to involve the mods/admins to punish some folks since there will always be individuals who feel they are "special" or are just oblivious to the rules. This is how I suggest Naruto, Bleach, and One Piece discussion threads forums should adopt to become a much neaten and organized place.

Threads should be establish beforehand, for all the posting manics. And, they should be done by the mods or capable, trustworthy members. Using One Piece as an example, I have seen so many dumb threads about the dumbest or rather unworthy of a thread questions in that section; it somewhat makes me angry. Hence, why I state more official threads should be made similar to the predicition/discussion threads about manga chapters. Let someone create a thread only about Zoro, only about Haki, only about predicting who would be the next member to join the Straw Hat Crew, or the PTP (Potential Theory Post) which will be where those statements that could be a theory, is placed since it lacks supporting evidence and is most likely a paragraph or less. And, many more threads.

I believe devising this method of establishing threads in the discussion forums will keep the site clean, and hopefully less annoying to navigate. Because, I honestly been searching the whole base whenever I want to make a thread and its crazy. Nonetheless, I must state I am not proposing this is the only method to fix the problem. So, no need to bend over heel to destroy my suggestion. ^^ Simply, don't accept the method.

EDIT: When I began to post, Mugi had not yet made the post that is above me. So, just go to the one before his previous post.
If any of you remember the One Manga forums, they had greatly moderated threads, and they were very strict.

You can just see how well organized their section and threads are.

After merging/closing/moving around 300 threads in the last hour, I couldn't agree with you more. Not only "I told you so" threads, but also all the duplicate threads. There were like 200 "Tobi is/Who is tobi" threads spread over 3 sections.

Around 16+ page of threads created in the last 24 hours in the Naruto Discussion and Naruto Manga sections.

ALL that discussion, all those theories, predictions and stuff should ideally be in the official chapter discussion thread. So ideally there should only be 2-3 new threads after the manga release, not 300-400...

This!

Well...I did a thread about ''Who is Tobi'' threads for this! I don't know but some members are...retarded!U_U
They can see 100 threads about Tobi and then...they go and make another thread. This sucks! This...really sucks!
For me peoples who are STILL making Tobi threads should be banned for 1 day!

That is what inspired me to make my previous post. Their forums for discussion of the big three, are one of the best in my opinion. In terms of organization that is.

I think after you register on one manga, you get a PM from a mod stating this and that warning you n all that.
One Manga were the best back in 07-09 imo before tazmo messed things up!

Another idea/s if not already said.

3 months after registering + 100 posts - thread making priviledges
Too many sections for one area(naruto discussion, character questions etc) need to be reduced.
Chatbox addition(if possible)
Regional mods for different timezones

Cause it seems people have too much to say atm, just my input
I borrowed your idea about the 3 month registration probation and used it to make a different set of punishments for new members and regular members in another revision.

I'm still working out more ideas in my head. I'd like, when it's said and done, for people to not be afraid to create threads (but to know what they can and can't make).

Most regular members (after one months time) should know not to duplicate threads and whatnot.

I guess it's time for my two cents. While I agree with the reasoning behind this idea, I can't support it. Yes, its a pain for the mods to delete all the duplicate & argument fail threads, but I think this may be going a little too far. If we start warning/banning members because of duplicate threads, I have a feeling we are going to get many more "Dragon Lords" on our hands, and the Baw from all those children making the threads will be unbelieveable.

I understand this is a frustrating time, but the manga just had a major unveiling which people have been speculting for months. What did you think would happen? The duplicate threads are not normally that abundant, so I think this is just one of those things that we'll just have to deal with every now and then.

I know this post wont make me the most popular person, but thats how I feel about it. I'm sure some of the other mods may feel that since I'm just an RP mod I dont have to deal with it, however, if they give me the permissions I would love to help them out.

Very well said. Of course, I had it far more strict earlier, then I made it more lenient. I think the way I have it set up now will alleviate a lot of the angry responses we'd get.

The most common offender of duplicate threads is new members registering because of the latest manga release. That's why I have the first offense set as only a warning and a one day revocation of thread creation rights.

They can still post, PM, VM, and all the other goodies. But they would get the message. If for some strange reason, they don't get the message, then they'd get a one day ban and lose the right to post for a week. Again, a one day ban isn't that severe. They probably wouldn't even lose any sleep over it.

Of course, if by this point they don't get the message, the severity would be amplified and continue to grow with each offense. These kinds of people are most likely only here to make trouble for other members.

I did have an alternate suggestion:
Let us flame and insult people who make these threads without fear of infractions. ;D

And thank you for arguing for the other side. Definitely helps me think this through more efficiently.

People are entitled to their opinions. They're also entitled to voice them in the proper locations.
In the proper forum? It that's the problem, just have them moved. No need to ban anyone. If it "annoys" you that people voice so many Tobi threads, than so be it. Im annoyed by thousands of things in life, but some things you just have to put up with. It wont kill anyone just to not click on a "
Tobi Theory" thread. Obviously, you see the title of the thread. Just don't click on it.

Trying not to sound like a douche here, but I just don't see any LEGITIMATE reason to implement this kind of thing. I'm not a fan of removing freedom, in return for order.

As discussed before, most of these threads are already against the rules (duplicate threads). Further, they consume unnecessary server space, bandwidth, and are overall needless.

Further, moderators don't get paid to clean up the refuse (worthless heaps of ambiguous misinformation).

However, people continue to thrash and disorganize these forums. These forums hosted on somebody's server, which is private property that costs money to upkeep.

So in a sense, you're posting on private property. The owner of said property has the right to determine who can and cannot enter it, what you can and cannot do, and finally where or where you can or cannot do said things.
