Ugh, why do things have to be so strict? Every time someone decides to troll a little he's banned in an instant, it's boring. In comparison NB 2 years ago was like stoner city to the uptightness there is now, seriously, can't we all just calm down with rules and crap a little? Make things more fun.

This thread has nothing to do with trolling. Did you read it at all?

Yes, I did, I wasn't so much commenting on the thread as I was the idea. What I'm saying is having zero tolerance is so strict, why not let some things slide and see if people enjoy it a little? Once it gets out of hand stop it but when everything is instantly closed, the creator banned/infracted, it gets dull.

I'll make you watch over 3,000 kids and try to regulate them without any rules. Good Luck!

The amount of people already annoyed by the overwhelming amount of "I told you so" threads is already high. There were probably what, over 300+ threads of such nature alone today? There will be countless more in the coming weeks.

Thus, it's kind of obvious it's already out of hand.

You guys think you have it bad, try moderating that, I think I got gray hairs in my head just by going through a few of them.

Hasashi, I do agree with you to a certain extent you should let people get away with things that are generally non disruptive to the greater public, but in this case 300 threads over on the same topic filled with trolling and spamming. In my opinion that's things getting out of hand

Zero Tolerance sounds so ugly. =/

What threads would be subject to that policy and who decides when a thread is in that category?

If someone just misunderstood the rule its not entirely fair for them to get banned on their first offense. A lot of people on the site don't speak English as their primary language so it would be pretty easy to misread one of the rules.

I clearly stated "I told you so" threads. I also clearly stated an alternative punishment would be the revocation of ones rights to create threads rather than a ban.

Are they threads that only said "I told you so" in them? Or would it include threads where the creator says I told you so and then also said something else. How much else is needed for it to be considered appropriate?

I just think a zero tolerance policy on a site this large and diverse is a too much.

a policy like that would make NB no fun.......although "i told you so" threads are annoying and always results in flaming
I rather be stuck in an eternal epileptic seizure than try to respond to countless "I told you so" threads (especially when they all have identical topics).

Anybody who doesn't understand the concept of a "I told you so" thread would obviously be very young and should probably require adult supervision to utilize the internet.

"I has no gud engrish, no understand you" isn't an excuse to post a duplicate of a thread that had already been duplicated 300+ times that day.

And, it may be Zero tolerance, but the punishments can start off rather leniently. If people continue to break the rule, the subsequent punishments would only intensify. Eventually they would learn (hopefully).

Got to agree with this idea, well put. Those 300 + threads are just so annoying and they're filling up the different sections with the same thing over and over again, making some of the "unique" threads disappear into the pile of duplicates U_U.

I agree with that Zero Tolerance Policy too.

If you try browse the Naruto Manga or Naruto Discussion area, you'll get piles of threads that only relate to Tobi's stuff and 1/4 of them are of the 'I told you so" thread and 3/4 of them are "who might be Tobi"!

There's a sticky for for Tobi's identity thread, another sticky for Latest manga's discussion and Predictions.

With all these spammings going all, it's time to take action seriously.

These kind of threads are so numerous that its impossible to troll them all in fact. Long ago, it was fun cause there were less members and most members were humans. U_U

Another idea/s if not already said.

3 months after registering + 100 posts - thread making priviledges
Too many sections for one area(naruto discussion, character questions etc) need to be reduced.
Chatbox addition(if possible)
Regional mods for different timezones

Cause it seems people have too much to say atm, just my input

After merging/closing/moving around 300 threads in the last hour, I couldn't agree with you more. Not only "I told you so" threads, but also all the duplicate threads. There were like 200 "Tobi is/Who is tobi" threads spread over 3 sections.

Around 16+ page of threads created in the last 24 hours in the Naruto Discussion and Naruto Manga sections.

ALL that discussion, all those theories, predictions and stuff should ideally be in the official chapter discussion thread. So ideally there should only be 2-3 new threads after the manga release, not 300-400...

I have to agree with the bottom two ideas. A chatbox, or even an IRC channel could work for NB, and you could have different rooms for discussing Tobi, or anything really. As for Mods, I have noticed around a certain time of day there are no moderators on to do anything.

I only disagree with the first idea. While most people would spam for their 100 posts, a few people don't and three months is quite a long time to wait just to make a thread. What about people who aren't all interested in the roleplaying side of things, and maybe want to talk about their favourite video games? They should be allowed to make a thread for those sorts of things, not to mention people like to introduce themselves.

My personal opinion on the moderator situation is that that have to be more harsh with these sorts of things. Maybe an announcement which can last for maybe a month or a week, and then they start infracting.

On a side note, I feel like mods should also maybe get more involved with the community. While it's nice to have them policing the areas, unless they get involved with the talking and the chatting, they do seem very intimidating to approach when trying to ask them a question. That's my biggest problem.

Buuut, onto the actual topic. I wouldn't even call for leniency. Just make an announcement and be off with it. If people decide not to read the announcement and choose to break more rules, then they're gonna be punished for it.

The Naruto Media sections are the most popular and the most busy/active sections on the whole forum. The RP sections have a lot of work for the mods, but the activity in the Media sections is much higher than in any other sections.

The problem with the Naruto Media sections are that mods quickly get sick of the sections, its the same thing over and over again. At its peaks, there are 600 members or so in the Naruto Manga section, 2 mods can't keep track of all the threads/posts that the members make, so often (im speaking for myself), I don't even try, because it's too much for me to handle.
People almost never use the search tool, or don't even bother looking at the threads in the first two pages, before going ahead and creating a duplicate thread. Many of the new members (around 80%) go straight to Naruto Manga section or Naruto Discussions and start partaking in discussion, without reading the rules. So naturally, they will double post, not follow simple rules. Most of the people don't even know how to edit/delete their own posts, much less Multi-Quote.

Many immature members will start insulting each other when they start losing discussion, or when another member doesn't understand something.
And every time, I try to take initiative and try and get people to behave, and clean up the sections, they will always act like rebel teens who are told by their parents to clean up their room. Whenever that happens, someone always ends up getting banned.

Getting more mods would be a solution, but only a temporary one, because people always lose interest in those sections over time. So 1-2 months after being a mod in those section, you'll be sick and tired of babysitting all the kids in those sections.

A chatbox wouldn't really be a solution either, because with 200 members (roughly 1/3 of the people in the sections), 200 kids, partaking in a IM conversation, it'd be like trying to read the credits in a russian sope-opera (because they scroll so fast), and a lot of insulting back and forth.
