I did like Fugaku more after this ep but in regards to Itachi, it was either kill them and save his brother or watch Danzo declare war and see his clan (including Sasuke) get killed alongside a bunch of Konoha shinobi in a bloody war.

Fugaku's way was too optimistic; if Uchiha restrained the higher ups, the majority of shinobi in the village would join arms against the clan for taking hostage/killing their leaders... War would be inevitable.

Great explanation! Not that your explanation needs more clarification lol but I also wanna add that Itachi knew it was essential that he'd be the one to do it if it was gonna happen bc he's an Uchiha himself. That way it would not put a bad image on the village and wouldn't ruin the uchiha name.

5/5 hands down. It was kinda surprising to find out that Fugaku had MS, but at the same time it's to be expected because he's the leader. Also, when Fugaku showed Itachi the scenario of him controlling the 9 tails, he showed them bringing a captured Naruto. However, this Naruto was the older Shippuden Naruto whereas Naruto is currently in the academy still in this timeline. So how could Fugaku have possibly known what Naruto looks like over a decade later or what kind of outfit he'll wear?

I'm not quite sure I like itachi's decision. Village over his family. Especially after his dad gave him a path that would not lead to casualties.

I no longer like Itachi. He still solos though.

This is true, I agree. It's kinda ****ed up, but whatever, this is what he thought is correct, he was afraid Konoha would kill every Uchiha including Sasuke I guess, that's why.

Not necessarily.

"To this day, I'm not sure if I was a spy solely to the Uchiha clan or village. I looked at it from both their eyes." -Itachi

His dad never gave him a path without casualties, he was merely saying so to convince Itachi that a coup would be justifiable, when it was not the case. The Uchiha wanted to kill as well, and no shinobi would peacefully standby with Hiruzen being overthrown.

Itachi chose to do what he did when he knew the Uchiha could not be dissuaded and was still in despair over it. He chose the only path that would benefit the Uchiha (their name and they would not go extinct through Sasuke- hence his dad's answer) plus the village. If he didn't do it, Danzo would have sent Root/Anbu to do so but with all of them.

This ep made me like him more and Fugaku less. As the latter was just concerned with his leadership position, which is why he didn't want to go against the coup even though he knew it did not hold merit. But what's the point of having a leadership position if the leader has no control? He should have accepted negotiation and if the clan ousted him, then so be it... a leader without a say is not a leader at all.

This episode show that itachi is a ninja like no other, genius, solo king, true ninja highest level fighter and always ten steps ahead. He imbibed/ plant suggestions or justu into people so if they where to go against is will it would activate.

Best episode since 375 over a year and a half ago. Even better than expected from Murata, he didn't only direct he animated the entire episode by himself.

Agreed. Is it unusual for a top animator to direct and animate am entire episode by themselves?

Yes it's very rare for any episode in any series to only have 1 animator. More so if they are also filling the positions of director&storyboard. That's super time consuming, the episode must have began production in advance, probably back in December.

I think episode 252 (Konan vs Tobi) is the ony other episode with 1 animator, but he had someone above him as director&storyboard.

Oh ok. I didn't know that but it makes sense. That's impressive, thx for the info.
