I'm not quite sure I like itachi's decision. Village over his family. Especially after his dad gave him a path that would not lead to casualties.
I no longer like Itachi. He still solos though.
This is true, I agree. It's kinda ****ed up, but whatever, this is what he thought is correct, he was afraid Konoha would kill every Uchiha including Sasuke I guess, that's why.
Not necessarily.
"To this day, I'm not sure if I was a spy solely to the Uchiha clan or village. I looked at it from both their eyes." -Itachi
His dad never gave him a path without casualties, he was merely saying so to convince Itachi that a coup would be justifiable, when it was not the case. The Uchiha wanted to kill as well, and no shinobi would peacefully standby with Hiruzen being overthrown.
Itachi chose to do what he did when he knew the Uchiha could not be dissuaded and was still in despair over it. He chose the only path that would benefit the Uchiha (their name and they would not go extinct through Sasuke- hence his dad's answer) plus the village. If he didn't do it, Danzo would have sent Root/Anbu to do so but with all of them.
This ep made me like him more and Fugaku less. As the latter was just concerned with his leadership position, which is why he didn't want to go against the coup even though he knew it did not hold merit. But what's the point of having a leadership position if the leader has no control? He should have accepted negotiation and if the clan ousted him, then so be it... a leader without a say is not a leader at all.
