Dude, Naruto did not forgive Nagato's crime. Rather, he stuck to his ideal of not paying evil with evil. This is what most people don't get. They keep doing what they condemn others for.

For example, Sasuke killed Danzou for his parents death without being a judge. If Danzou had a child stronger than Sasuke, he would have gone and take revenge on Sasuke, and the cycle will continue since they act on their own judgement. This is pretty much what most of you like, and it is laughable.

Still though, Naruto is idealistic up to an unrealistic level. I mean it's ok to have some of your opponents turn good but this rule to apply on everyone? Give me a break. Let me you give you a hypothetical scenario. Let's say that Naruto had left Nagato live (as he did) with the difference that nagato would simply retreat without reviving anyone. All Konoha and its people would remain debris. Now let's say that some time later Nagato would destroy another country, what would be the result of that? Naruto would have allowed one person to live but in exchange that person would stick to his ideals and would kill another bunch of people.

Now, don't get me wrong, I love the messages this manga tries to pass but I think that they should be passed on a more realistic level. You can't expect people to learn, hope, or believe that no matter what, people can change under the correct influence. Let's be merciful but not forgetful as well.

Naruto doesn't intend to just let Sasuke kill everyone and let Sasuke walk off. His solution does acknowledge that he might have to break Sasuke's arms and legs and drag him back to Konoha. He just doesn't want to kill anyone. Batman takes the same approach generally speaking (no guns).

I doubt Naruto was planning to just let Nagato walk away, remember that he intended to take Obito back to the village to pay for his actions, and his plan is to drag Sasuke back to the village to stop him.

Naruto is naive, I think most of base agrees with you on that. Naruto has a LOT of growing up to do before he can sit in the Hokage seat. Same for Sasuke in all honesty.
