Lol I feel like Kishi could've just shown the 8 gates showdown first and then just 2 pages of flashbacks later. These flashbacks are too much, I feel most of them should've been shown before the war.

I have to disagree with you. Showing this flash back before the war or even after the 8th gate has been opened would not draw the same effect as it did in this chapter. Maybe you didn't get the effect, but I certainly did. Kishi is trying to draw a parallel between Gai and his father during the times when they BOTH open the 8th gate. Notice how he switches back and forth between the flash back and the present, showing Gai's expression as he opens the 8th gate. Doing this is necessary to show how strong their beliefs are in terms of when they can use the 8th gate. Can you imagine how this would turn out in animation? I know something would get caught in my eyes.

God damn you guys are hard to please. WE FINALLY SAW THE EIGHT GATES THAT WE'VE WANTED TO SEE SINCE LEE OPENED 5 AGAINST GAARA FOR GODS SAKE! And the flashback was actually pretty nice, we saw who Guy's father was, and how similar Lee and Guy really are; neither had any talent for ninjutsu. Seriously guys, I can understand you're disappointed with having to wait another week for any ass-whooping but give Kishi some credit, the eighth gate looks SO COOL.
