The 3rd wanted to choose Oro but he chnaged his mind,then he choose minato. Minato died in office and rather young so he didnt choose his successor. Since the 3rd was alive he came back to office. The 3rd wanted Jiraiya to succeded him( Tsunade mention it) but jiraiya refused since the 3rd was dead jiraiya and the elders choose Tsunade</div>

I think if he feels that akatsuki is about to capturer naruto i think he'll have root asssasinate him to prevent akatsuki from having the kyuubi</div>

Naruto is pretty weak but not only would they go to a bunch of flashbacks, if he used the nine-tails power(when they give him the key) it would me the battle much longer
