He was doing it in the name of peace. Not personal gain.
He didn't want to be remembered as a hero or worshiped like a God.
He didn't find joy in killing and killed only when necessary.
It was war.
Ceasar of Rome did worse than Obito and he's regarded as one of the greatest men who ever lived.

No, Naruto said his path was selfish after reading his mind. So it really wasn't for peace...that was just a front. Obito also said that attacking the Leaf was fun and that was unnecessary.

also Obito was indoctrinated as a child, so I don't think he should be condemned for something he was manipulated into doing since his youth.
Plenty of children are manipulated into killing in wars, but Obito realized his mistake, going against a philosophy he lived his whole life by. I think that should be regarded as impressive.

why would obito care about the imposters in reality? lol. he was crazy. his goal was to stop all wars. in the end he thought he could break even with IT and bring everone back.

Oh yes he did, read chapter 502. Don't compare Obito to those kids. Madara never told Obito how to react to Rin's death nor did Madara didn't constantly preach a philosophy to him since birth.
It was for peace, then it wouldn't really be selfish. Naruto didn't consider Nagato selfish.
