It was honestly unnecessary. Yeah, Neji chose his fate to die. But I lol that his actual purpose of dying was to further connect Naruto and Hinata. I could tolerate the pairing. However, the means behind it left a bitter taste.
Simply displeased and totally sickened the fact that Neji who was one of the best character only to get wasted over NH pairing, him dying was the most pathetic and such insult to his character. If people kept bragging about his development finished in Part 1, then why the f*ck was the point of bringing Neji into Part 2 if he's not going to be utilised, Neji should've died the fight against Kidomaru because this fight was beautiful, most inspiring and great honorable to Neji.
I have mixed feeling with NH, I wish Hinata gets some development and have buildup with Naruto throughout the course of this series but from the way I see it, Neji and Hanabi are nothing more but a plot device for romance and it took BS for NH to happen.
Kishi killed of neji because he had neglected the character for too long and his potential become unfulfilled. Killing him off was a way of avoiding that.
I don't care what Kishi said.
For me, Neji died a HERO, protecting his Main branch cousin, whom he originally hated and tried to KILL, and the world's HERO, whom he also bullied in their Exam fight.
Neji also addresses his father, who died to protect HIS brother - so I'm not making stuff up.
While very sad (due to being permanent, cause I really hoped for a Rinne Balls finale, what with all those Super Ootsutsukis), Neji's death isn't STUPID at all.
Neji didn't "die for NaruHina" - he died for Naruto and Hinata, the ones he used to abuse originally, yet who BOTH showed him the LIGHT.
It's kinda fitting, but still sad.

you are not gonna like it for sure...but well, you've asked so...
basically Neji was a good kid but once he discovered how psycho the Hyuuga were, all his rage was directed against Hinata which changed him into a bad character.
i think Kishimoto should have killed him in the chuunin exam but he didn't, probably because they were still young teens and also because Naruto never killed anyone directly (all his opponents voluntarily died by themselves to help him or were killed by someone else which is really interesting too).
i didn't mind it because he died later but only after coming back to the old good Neji and not the piece of hate whom abused his innocent cousin just because their family are insane and treated them both like shit.
this is what happen to Neji so i'm happy Kishimoto didn't lied about his death being useful and heroic, many other characters should have died like him and served the story instead of staying alive without any purpose except existing.
also, if Hinata or Naruto or both had died, game over.
did you already forgot what happened to Naruto's mind when Hinata was hurt by Pain?
a cupid is a symbol of love and war at the same time btw and that's what he called him and that's how his death was portrayed on the cover of the manga.

so now re read the interview because Kishimoto is trolling hella lot, making fun of everything because he's free to do so and that's refreshing.
try to be more subtle, less basic...he's not insulting Neji's character, he made him died the best way possible just like Jiraya, they died like heroes and their deaths means something for the main character aka Naruto.
also, wait for part 3 because imo, it's probably not so innocent that Boruto was named after Neji and not Jiraya or someone else...
Stupid reason to let a nice char die. Though his death impacted the spirit of the shinobi alliance, but mainly expressingthat his death to serve purpose on pairing. not cool.
Dear God 1Told, Shaz and Koshej make some of the most cancerous posts of NDS. Befitting for making damage control for a pitiful character like Hinata.
OT: Even before his death i knew NH would be canon and i do not even give a damn avout that pairing. Whole "cupid" resemblance made me gag. Disgusting really, an author having no respect for his own creation. I have more respect for my 500-1000 word essays i have to write.
