Lena didn't really know how to react to Cheryl's question of "Do you trust me?". She had no reason not to, but she was not quick to trust, their journey together had been nice and Lena had done nothing but accommodate herself for the Barbie anyway; even though in the past she had let down her guard and been hurt before. As she was brought to the end of the platform, she sat on the edge as asked and was then treated to something. Something she didn't expect. A Song about her.
Lena listened to every word Cheryl had thoughtfully come up with. As the stitched horror watched below at her city, the state it was in, and the song as if in a flash took her back those two years ago. Everything was fine, the streets were busy with people, shoppers, workers, children playing, buskers. She looked up in the sky and saw one of the her airships flying away from the pier. She smiled as tears ran down her face and she closed her eyes, letting the breeze embrace her face and play with her hair. All the memories she made flooded through her; all the work she put in leading up to New Shinra, the people who sacrificed themself to bring her this, Sado, Zeri, Topaz, Juliana, Zeri's Crew, Kiara, Nicola and so many more all clutched her hearts. Her smile twisted and she finally audibly cried into her hands. Her shoulders shook as Cheryl finished her song.
Lena wiped her eyes and sniffed, flicking her hands out to the side to rid them of upset. She clutched the edge of the platform, got tense and then relaxed as she let out a big breath. Lena ran her thumb gently across one of the mockingbirds on her lap, letting out an upset chuckle, though the company of birds did make her feel a little better. The song had been the medium to allow her to let it all out, but it also reminded her of what responsibilities she still carried, even if some things were gone, others weren't and the ideas of those things that were gone still truly remained. Lena could use them, renew them, like a phoenix the memories could rise from the fire and fuel her next goal and the wills of the next generation.
She turned, looking over her shoulder as Cheryl stood up from where the bear was. Lena tilted her head and stood up, walking over and up to the crystal user. Seems she had used them very abilities to leave a lovely mural of what was and now what is. Her lost stitched bear was now accompanied by a crystal companion, a seemingly very fitting new silver lining.
"This is beautiful..." Lena took Cheryl's hand and squeezed it, "Thank you... I'm not going to give up on these people, if I have to do it all again, I will. If I have to fight over and over again to make a safe place for those I love - I will."
Lena looked back at Cheryl -still holding her hand- with a more piercing, driven glare. "If its the Gods' wish to tear down the barriers I've placed to keep my family from being vulnerable. I'll Kill the Gods.
