The game is getting to be known this days, I believe they started to gain fame through youtube videos. But I agree, the game looks crappy but I admit the game is kinda cool

Minecraft is a first person game where you play as a lone character...who is not alone... at night monsters such as zombies skeletons spiders and "creepers" (who explode when in range) attack you. In the day you must gather wood, stone, iron, glasss,leaves,diamond, and hundreds more items to build a base and survive. Using your workbench you can make rail ways, arrow traps, a lava castle, ladders, dukeboxes and many other epic things. Each world is never the same and you will never ever come across the same world twice (unless you seed). Its currently in beta so new features are always added such as dogs which were just added which are pets to the owner. Minecraft map goes on for ever. It does not have a limit, and there are deserts, mountains, flat plains, snowy rejoins and if you build a portal you can go to hell ( the nether) which is filled with new enemies called ghasts which fire explosives at you. There is a multiplayer mode which is the same as singleplayer but cooler and enemies can be turned of on sp and mp if you just want to be a artist

I was asked to set up a server, but it looked lame to me so I declined. It sounded like all you do is build stuff? No fighting or quests or puzzles?

Well in most online servers that's what people want to do. But if you play on special servers/ single player, it's like a proper adventure - you build a house, gather resources to make stuff and you fend off from creatures at night [some spawn during the day, but a $%^& load at night].

Also with the recent update there's been an "achievement" system introduced which is the equivalent of "quests" I guess.
