Minato overrated? Really??

First of all, i must say that i'm a Minato fan(or fanboy if you like), but what i say below is what i think people forget mostly when they try to compare him to others

I can understand that some people could hate him(every characters have haters), i can understand that people don't like his fighting style(we could think it's boring that someone kill another in an instant just with speed), but i don't really understand why he is sooooo underrated.

It's not a secret for everyone that Kishimoto hyped Minato all along in this manga. Those are only examples:

- Kakashi to naruto - "It's because you're the only shinobi.......Who I believe who can surpass Yondaime Hokage"


- 4th Raikage to Naruto- "he was a great man.. one i thought that will never be surpassed"

- Jiraya to Tsunade "its tough for anyone to be compared to the fourth"

- Kishimoto "that unrivalled strength that carefree smile, aiming at his level, everyone set off"

What's much more funny is that some people forget about this hype but they are the same one who says that Hiruzen is strong by hype, Hashirama is strong by hype. If they are strong by hype, what's with Minato's case then? :shrug:

So, if we're going by hype only i don't see how Minato is "overrated". I'm only going the way Kishimoto thinks it is. If Minato was really that overrated, then blame kishimoto for that since he is the one who overhype Minato

I've seen more hate directed towards this character than love. FTG is for some reason nerfed on this forum, despite it being one of the most useful/OP techniques we have seen in the manga.

Most of the people that underrate him are the itachi fan boys ... he's overrated and underrated .... people tend to take his ability's to the next level sometimes which is why people say he's not as good as they make him out to be, they are sometimes referring to when people say he can 1 hit anyone and stuff, Minato is one of my favourite by far, i don't think people give him enough credit, Even considering that the manga states he a "ONE IN A LIFE TIME GENERATION GENIUS"

Uh well he was defeating Tobi before Tobi ran away like a scared little -----, so yes he is on Tobi's level at the very least if not above him. He was able to stop Tobi's control on the Kurama and he was able to do severe damage to him with his rasengan. So if Minato is overrated then so is Tobi.

The quote of "Unrivaled strength" etc is obviously a hyperbole... obviously Minato isn't really unrivaled in strength.
Kishi uses it all the time to hype up the character for the chapter. For example:

Minato does get overrated alot. It used to be ridiculous a while ago but to be honest, from looking at some recent threads I think people are starting to underrate him a bit aswell now. I can see it myself. The overrated still outweighs the underrated by far though imho.
But you will find that with every popular character such as Itachi, Jiraiya, Kakashi, Hashirama etc.

Kakashi was hyping him when Naruto was learning the rasenshuriken which was in part 2. We did not know about the Raikage till part 2. So I am unsure of where you get only in part 1 from.
